Snap on Techangle repair
Anyone had any luck repairing a Snap on Techangle torque wrench it cuts off randomly when using. They say it's a bad circuit board, I took it apart and check the board with a microscope camera but don't see anything obvious.
I remember on the older ones Snap on updated the battery cap. Seems if your hand was on the cap the wrench would reset. If your hand was off the cap the wrench worked fine. HTH
I had this problem as well with the first gen Techangle wrenches. Updated cap and no problems afterward. Now I have the latest techangle. Updated for more conversions and larger range in torque
I have a 3/8 and ½ the 3/8 has been sent in a few years ago. I did notice the cap on one of them seems a little more rigid than the other.
Chad and Jim I agree Jim, my techangle did the same thing and I learned as long as my hand was not on the battery cap, it worked well. I'm glad to see I didn't have the only faulty torque wrench.
I have fixed a couple , the battery contacts need to be resoldered near the battery. visibly cracked on both here
That's what I was thinking,, it acts as if you removed power and resets, normally when it flexes a little. I will look at those contacts closer.
There is a tiny little wire that runs from the circuit board down a little plastic guide down the handle to the threads of the battery cap. That’s your negative connection to the circuit board. That wire breaks near the end of the handle. Very easy to fix, the wire is the exact same gauge as a wire in a usb charging cable. Very tedious to route it, but that’s how I fixed mine. Just 2 little…
I fixed mine by buying the ControlTech instead :) Have had no problems in over 2 years
youtube.com/watch?v=FkElp9… I actually did this on my old one, not my video though
I resoldered the wires at the board and checked the ground connection, I'll have to give it a try on something. So far it's been working.
