Cloning

First attempt to clone a DME. I tried Kess v2 and Ktag Masterversion with KSuite with no luck. Says it's not supported or not compatible. I tried finding msflasher, but the one I found was corrupt. I had no luck building the one from github. Anybody have any other ideas, it's a Siemens MS45?

Normally would send something like this out, but we are just playing around learning BMW keys as my friend works on a lot of them and figure we learn something new, but if all else fails, we'll send it.

for this chassis don't need to do anything in dme on a board level for KEY learning. Read EWS add key sync ews and dme car starts. More often than not don't even need to resync ews dme.

Jorge - I don't often see you offer any help or time to other member's but just look to sell your services… This site is to offer help to others. I am sure you have lots knowledge why not share it with your fellow member's if your going to be here??

We usually help by helping solving the problem, in most cases we do not charge anything to do the job, only shipping cost. I have never posted or made comments about offering our services for money and I've helped a few guys for free so whatever you think is no big deal to me, I do not care.

I agree with Manuel. I have cloned a few of these no problem. You do have to do a re-sync when you are done sometimes.

Michael, good tip on the resync…, The need to resync may occur after cloning and then reinstalling but it would not impede the cloning itself, would it?

A resync didn't seem to do anything. The concern I had was the checksum error. Re-flashing the eeprom seem to get stuck at 25%, so we tried to swapping the eeproms, but may installed them upside down as we no longer have communication or a check engine light. Before I did this, we had a flashing check engine light. I haven't pick up a new DME as I'm still working on the F150 chudder, but will…

Original K-tag or china clone? The M54B25 with the Siemens MS45 is covered, protocol family is 18. Kess also lists this ecu, family 181.

I installed 2.22 and also 2.23, and one newer version 2.47 I believe. 2.47 didn't work if I remember. There was a second cd with a running copy of 2.25 with no install, so I copied all the files into the 2.22 folder. Running 2.25 from the cd gave me an error is why I copied the files to the c drive.

Can also confirm KTag works on MS45. (including cheap chinesium KTag clones) make sure your power supply is also good if your having read/write connectivity issues.

I'm using my rework station power supply and didn't have any read issues, but got DME not compatible issues. The only reason I had a read error in the picture was because I was holding the pins in place and didn't want to wait for it to finish. Was closing the shop. I'll update tomorrow once we try to write to the used one, but I'll solder pins when I'm going to write to avoid any errors.

Got everything to work, notice a selection for 45.1 that addressed configuration not supported. Now the check engine light flashes for anti tampering. Anything I can do with CGDI or KTag?

I went into CAS and reset start value, but the checksum error comes back. Tried two different DME.

Read the flashed (semi-new) ecu and compare with the reading you obtained from the original ecu when you first read it. Programs like hexcomp or something similar will be your friend finding possible differences. These programs usually show a value for the checksum, look if they are different. K-tag shouldn't let you flash the pcm if the checksum wasn't ok, seems a bit odd at this point.

I noticed an issue programing the eeprom, which would stop at 25%. So we played with swapping eeprom, but I installed them upsite down on two Dme's and killed them. Going to order new ones and see if that will fix it. We swapped all the injector drivers on the old on, but still have a misfire on 6. Going to get another DME and try again.
