What is the original part number of the PCM? (read using any scan tool).

Also what programming device are you using? DRB3, J2534?

The reason I ask is that as of a few days ago FCA is no longer supporting the legacy J2534 software. The title says “November“ but the date is September 1. See this post for more info... diag.net/msg/m1vastjtqp…

I was on the phone with tech authority and they never spoke of it. So windows 10 is needed? I missed that update.

You will need wiTECH2.0 j2534 software in order to do this or a DRBIII/DRBIII emulator by Controller Technologies. I have not tried programming using the legacy software since September 1. I suspect it will no longer work.

Ok so before I can help I need more information. What tool are you using? Micoropod? J2534? DRB III? Is the PCM a replacement part or updating the existing part? If replacement, was it sourced from the OE or a third party?

Hi John, In extreme cases I do this. Read the original computer info. Start programming session. Hot swap the replacement. Proceed with programming. It sounds like your replacement has some information that is corrupted. Doing a hot swap (changing in middle of session) is your best chance. I have not had catastrophic effects when I have had to do this. BTW, I personally have had the best luck…

Additionally, with a used PCM you can use J2534 toolbox and not worry about SKIM or updates just get the old junker going.

You're being too kind, Mike. BTW, OEM Reman is Cardone. Now, doesn't that give you the warm fuzzies? Guido

I would take a hard look at what Benjamin is saying , legacy programming was going to be moved to aftermarket j2534 witech 2.0 as of Sept 1 I believe.

I just programmed a 09 using the legacy app today 9/5/19. No problems Just a heads up I checked the temp low file to see if Chrysler was moving anything around on us and it is still the same. I wonder if those of us that have the legacy app are good as long as its not deleted? Check your down load folder and see if you can find it LOL. As far as the older Jeeps go.. I know i have seen some of…

Thank you for this info Brian. I have been curious on how this will unfold. I personally have a Micropod 2. However, I have been using the legacy app with a J2534 for older FCA vehicles. Subscriptions are separate for J2534 wiTECH 2.0 and Micropod 2 wiTECH 2.0. I am considering buying a DRB3 emulator for flashing older Chrysler vehicles If the legacy app stops working. I guess we shall see.

With the emulator you can download files from Tech tools. Have not been on there for a while to see if that is still valid. It is listed under legacy tools.

Yes, that is correct. Tech Tools makes it very easy to get the correct file. I haven’t been on tech tools in a while either.

Hi Benjamin: The inverse is also true. Tech Tools makes it easy to get the wrong file. While you can do so using wiTECH, it takes effort. Guido

Yes Chrysler sure sticks it to us. I was expecting not to be able to download the cal files as of this month. I have never used DRB 3 emulator for a flashing. Let us know your results. The legacy app is the one thing that never gives me problems as far as crashing or not working. As you said we shall see.

I have used the Controller Technologies DRB3. It is no different then flashing using an actual DRB3 and is almost just like the legacy app. You download the file from Tech Authority, open the DRB3 emulator and Select “Flash”. It will read the current part number and if the flash file has been properly downloaded will start the flash process. The only reason I have not bought one is it is pretty…

So number 3 ecm from dealer had no problems.Customer ordered one from a different dealer, and another state. The one thing I noticed was the cel was slow to come on 10-15 seconds after turning the key on. Last one cel worked normal time.

If the original pcm will still communicate you can do a pcm swap with a autel. You will need the pin number though.
