Myth

Hello everyone,

I’ve chatted with a few members here about a new project proposal I have which I believe will go a long ways towards supporting the overall mission of …. My subject line leads into this but the concept goes like this:

Here's how to get started:

  • Recall a myth you know and love well.
  • Open up a new discussion here on DN with a descriptive subject line.
  • Add a "Myth" tag in the "Symptoms & DTC's" area.
  • Describe the myth.
  • Without too much detail, describe the source of the myth, "State run emission training program, etc."
  • Estimate how much time went by until you learned that you needed to unlearn.
  • Summarize what you know now and how you've overcome the challenge.

To sweeten the challenge, I will provide the author of the most popular (up-votes, engagement, etc) myth posted from now through the end of September 2018 with a $100 Amazon Gift Card and a stylish comfort fit T-Shirt! (Tie-breaker - highest vote count across the original message and all replies)

Myth: a popular belief or tradition that has grown up around something or someone; especially: one embodying the ideals and institutions of a society or segment of society. (Source Merriam)

I'll follow up this post with an example that can be used to pattern from.

I look forward to seeing the Myth Busting project taking off, please consider joining the effort!

Thanks for your support.

Scott, one question.

If I was to bring in a myth as a question I seek answers to from other professionals and equipment suppliers. Would that be taking in for vote?

If you have a question about something you're not sure if it's a myth or not then it's probably not a myth (yet).

If it indeed is a myth, then I would present what you know and ask any questions you deem appropriate. I suspect that the ensuing dialogue should help to paint a clearer picture.

Thank you Scott. I will do just that.

Regardless of its myth type it's a question I've had for a while and am finding myself wanting an answer on and not so much an opinion.

Ask away, I’m sure that there are folks willing to share their perspective.

Definitely will be doing here shortly and was planning on it before reading your post.

I was just trying to get a chance at a free DN shirt. Lol.

But yes I'm gonna bring my question to the network so I can get sd oe solid answers for my investment purposes.

Gave a good day Scott.

Dare I mention the myth that the more a tech knows the more he/she will be paid?

Hi Jaimie,

Good one but if you're looking to have this be considered for the above offering, it needs to be posted as outlined in my initial message.

Thanks!

It should read your get paid in proportion to the value you bring to a business.
