In Need of a Photo of a VW Special Tool
I am working on an article on a 13 Passat TDI and I would like to show how I used a Google image search to help me diagnose a timing belt issue. Problem is, I can't publish photos I stole from Google without getting permission and rather than try and get permission I thought it would be fun to try out a bounty, offering it to whoever can get me a photo that will replace the one I stole from Google.
This photo shows the slide I am working with. The photo on the right is one that I took and I'm looking to replace the photo on the left showing the proper tool installed with the timing marks lined up.
The P/N on the tool is T10050 and is pretty common across all VW models. Rules are that the photo must be a high resolution and taken by you with permission to publish.
Mike I have both early and late engine model versions of this tool. Let me know what you need buddy. Welcome to them or I can send what ever you need
Justin, All I need is a photo identical to the one on the left. The reason I can't use the one I have is because I don't have permission to publish it. If you run into one soon snap a photo for me!
Mike I would value a copy of your article when finished. Thanks
Absolutely. It should end up in Motorage as well.
Just find a seller of the tool from China, on eBay, and use their pic. After all, they stole the plans to make it, you don't need their permission to show a picture of that.
Ha valid point. I figure the bounty would be fun.
I’ll be doing a t-belt on my parents ‘12 a3 tdi next week, I can get a photo if you don’t have it by then.
FInally found the engine that we had on the shelf. It’s a CKR. This work?
Yes that will work! Thank you!
I have a few more to send if you want to choose. Is the quality of the uploaded photos good enough through DN?
Thank you! I think so but if you get a chance to send them to … I'll see if they come through any better. I appreciate it!
I have pictures of the T10050. Will pictures of just the tool work or did you want a picture of the tool installed? I am ready to send them to you whichever way you want. I have attached them here. I can send them to you another way if you like. I give permission to use them for your article.
Yes I need a high resolution photo of the tool installed to show the timing marks. Just like this but without the arrow.
There is at least 1 new tool for these which has been updated. Honestly, the aftermarket shops rarely purchase these. They mark the pulley position and replace the belt, hoping for the best. Since TDI's are a specialty of mine, I have the tools already.
That is the purpose of the article. At the time I did the diag, I didn't have the tool. Rather than give up all we did was do a Google image search to see where the marks were supposed to be to determine ours was out of time.
