Transmission Noise
When driving vehicle and push in clutch to shift out of 2nd while giving it gas with clutch pedal depressed, get a grinding noise followed by a bang. Does it when shifting to higher gears also. Sounds like something is trying to engage, but clutch pedal is depressed. Has anyone seen this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.
Have you tried shifting without the clutch being released? My thoughts are toward the inertia damper springs or clutch disc hub failing.
What would shifting without the clutch being released tell me or not tell me?
The clutch disc is then staying as one unit with the flywheel and pressure plate/cover during the shifts. I feel that might eliminate clutch hub and spring noises if it does not make the grind or bang? Just something I like to try. Sometimes I feel it even gives me a good feel for the shift forks and blocking rings condition.
