After a known good CMP/CKP correlation scope pattern for this car - actually a 2NZ engine (which didn't seem to be an option in the drop-down box).

Apparently the check light comes on every couple of months and the local Toyota dealer has told him it's the timing chain, which I didn't think was too common on these. Customer doesn't know the DTCs they extracted and there's none currently logged.

Cheers All!

Dale.

Hello Dale, I am wondering if you have any spatter, like a misfire on the engine when it triggers the fault. Does the vehicle accelerate normal, or hesitates?

I would believe Toyota would change the engine designation code if there was a difference in the base design. I could be wrong.

An intermittent oil control valve failure could be responsible. Or oil clogged around it.

I just realized that I misread the engine code and shared a different one. Sorry if it isn’t what you needed.
