Hello fellow techs. First attempt to program new engine computer. I am using consult3r2r but when attempt to program new Ecm I cannot select before/after Ecu replacement. The old Ecm is Missing in action. Went to work support and did a saving data for Ecu rep but that didn’t work either. Can I do it with r2r and I am just misssing a step or do i need a different program. Here are some screenshots.

Thanks in advance, gery

Gary. If this is your first time you will also need to create a file in C drive (ReproProgramming) Then get the file (23710 5HR2A) Extracted to your desktop, then transfer to the folder you made on your C drive. After this go in to the programming section, blank ECU, and follow the directions. Good luck!!

Everyone is spot on with their instructions. Do note one thing, this ECU is not blank. It already has a part number in it as displayed. It may already have been sent with the updated calibration. Keep us posted on your next steps and also let us know if additional files were needed!!!!

Samuel, No, it is blank. Nissan Blank ECM's will have a box part number of #23703-XXXXX. Nissan ECM's that have a calibration will have a box part number of #23710-XXXXX. If the box is missing a quick check in FAST/EPC/ECAT will show what part number it is. Blank ECM's started in 2013MY for the most part. When I first started doing them the price point was around $400-$500. However, now…

I was reading the nissan tech info site download instructions. I'm not sure though can I use a one day r2r subscription. Or do I have to purchase the 350.00 ners program. question number two…. when i enter the vin(knmat2mv8jp579194) on parts catalog, the part numbers come up 23703 5ha0b(ecu) and 5h0a(blank ecu) when i input 23703 on download purchase page, i dont get an option for 5hxxx…

Gery, I will answer your questions in order. NERS is the J2534 programming application for Nissan/Infiniti. Consult3Plus R2R should be able to program. I don't have first hand experience with it as I have a yearly subscription to Consult3 Plus. Blank ECM application is rough from choosing the right ECM to choosing the right software calibration download. This seems to happen on the Rogue…

Thanks john. I appreciate your time to explain it. I Just didn’t want to program with wrong calibration file and also try to figure out how to choose the correct one going forward. i guess I’m going to purchase the download file and install/move accordingly and see if that prompts r2r to accept programming. If not then I will purchase the ners and do it that way. Again thanks for your time.

Gery, No problem. It is very confusing. The wrong calibration file is a fear of mine and many others. That is why I reach out to Tweddle and get confirmation of what I think. I also document their response as well. I have one right now that I am going back and forth with a SIR request because of this madness. I would suggest you follow along because you will encounter these issues as well…

Gery, I feel that R2R should be able to program. Did you read the Nissan instructions thoroughly? Did you create a “Reprogramming” folder? Did you unpack the file purchased? Did you place the .DAT file downloaded in there? Did you place the .BLANKCSV file in the folder as well? Just some thoughts.

NERS and R2R use the same files, just kept in different folders based on the software you are using…..If you open R2R ONLY, no NERS and you have the file in the folder, it will not gray out on the programming tab and let you proceed….If you do ALLLL you are supposed to and it will not accept the file, it is because 1. the file is in the wrong location 2. the file is ALREADY on the ECU. Gery, Looks like you have everything in order. When you open C3Plus and go into programming are you choosing Replacement of ECU-Programming-After Replace ECU? I would suggest you look at Nissan TSB NTB12-091A or latest version of it.

Sooooo….. went out there today and sure enough after downloading file and creating new programming file, consult3r2r allowed me to click on before/after replacement. I chose after, then clicked on manual entry not epc(wasn’t sure was kinda winging it). Had type in file number and it programmed successfully. The only thing I noticed it wasn’t able to do follow up procedures(idle air lean) cause…

Gery, Glad you got it. Nissan can be daunting. I hope you and others are following my little fiasco in the NASTF SIR menu here on DN. As far as not seeing key on/key off. Did you reboot C3Plus? Did you drag test DLC pins? Nissan utilizes some unique pins at the DLC for key on and key off.
