Toyota Camry AHV40 AC Operation
6T153FK400X227192 Australian Built Toyota Camry Hybrid 2010
Diagnosed fault in Ac Compressor -Had various codes - little R134a in system- Removed Compressor-Disabled HV system by disconnecting Battery safety cut out dismantled end cap found that in had a internal failure- Had various codes one being B1498 and other codes
Sourced a replacement New Compressor .New Replaced Condenser , New TX valve and flushed system
Vacuum and Gas system to required quantity 530gms
System is showing 5 bar on Low and high side gauges
AC compressor is not pumping - Checked out High Voltage side - disconnected Orange HV plug and with correct PPE measured 260V DC @ Compressor
Check HV fuse resistance
Check HV cable from invertor AC fuse to Ac Compressor resistance check OK
Researched both codes P3108 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH A/C SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE
Note our aftermarket scan tool doesn't give the sub codes
B1498 COMMUNICATIOIN MALFUNCTION (A/C INVERTER LOCAL)
Check 6 pin Low voltage side at AC Compressor - Checked Power and ground to Pins 5+ 6 ok
Check Continuity of 4 wires back to Hybrid Motor ECU and for any shorting to ground - ok
Check for a present of a square wave signal at
C64-18 (CLK) - Body ground
C64-20 (ITE) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Pulse generation
Nil Waveform - next step according to Toyota manual is to replace AC Compressor
Sourced another secondhand Compressor - Compressor supplied had different part number sourced from Aftermarket
Thinking that Compressor may not be compatible
Old Compressor Denso # ES27C …
New Denso ES27C- …
After S/hand compressor still not cooling or compressor action
Second Hand compressor introduces a new Code B1473- A/C Inverter Start-up Signal System Malfunction- had previously followed flow chart for HV wiring
Not sure what I am missing
Is it correct to have 260vDC voltage a AC compressor HV side
Reading thru my notes and flow chart for B1498 just now I may have missed
C64-33 (STB) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V this is done with plug disconnected at Hybrid Engine module
Followed Toyota flow chart for the code again , found faulty Hybrid Engine control unit, Sourced s/hand unit , linked to vehicle by bridging obd11 appropriate connectors and leave key on for 30 minutes all good, cancel codes an ac works
