2000 E46 Bmw No Crank
Hello, I have this bmw 2000 323ci manual transmission no crank no start.once in a while it would crank and start.but 99 times no crank.scanned the car on 20 pin connector no code related to no crank start condition. No security light with key in ignition its flashes when key removed.i think it recognize the key.custemer only have one key.bypass starter it starts.ignition switch is good, has power on pin 8 blk/blu when crank .wire from ignition switch to ews module is good, can carry the load. Wire from ews to starter is good too.it has two switchs on the clutch pedal but pro demand wiring diagram only shows one switch.both switchs has same color of wires and pin layout. Data pid on scanned shows clutch pedal enable when press it.voilet /yel wires on clutch pedal switch only has around 5v.is it normal to see 5v on this wire.even fuse 9 feeding cclutch violet yellow wire has 5v.is there any way to bypass ews or test it good or bad?any suggestions and advise would be highly appreciated thank you upkar …
Definite ways to bypass ews on these vehicles sometimes it’s a necessity when customer gets a hold of them :) do To have full scan of vehicle friend Maybe it’s faster to fix vehicle straight up but if you need ews removed I can do it
Verify the engine is properly grounded .A BMW this old most likely has a deteriorated ground strap
When Bypass starter it runs.if ground is bad it wouldn't crank?
The symptom makes it sounds like a bad key. If you do not have the tools to check the EWS for the validity of the key, then you could either experiment and have him purchase another key, or you could send the customer to a shop that does have the proper equipment to diagnose this No Crank condition.
On ews data does it show valid key when inserted? Does it show start enabled? on dme data start enabled and possible fault code for immobilized ? is there power on pin 3 (black and blue @ ews). If you jump pins 1 and 3 (p1 black, p3 black/blue) the starter will run in start position.
