Code set criteria for P150300
Vehicle came in with the complaint of very low power. Vehicle Scan relevant codes were
P16DB00 (stored code) Charge pressure is too low.
P150300 (Current and stored MIL) Intake air system/Charge air system - Offset drift under load 1.
P16E100 (Stored) The charge pressure control is faulty.
Driving the vehicle revealed that it was locked in a reduce power mode. From what I know the P150300 cannot be cleared with out resetting some adaptations with regard to airflow through the air filter, mass air flow sensor etc.
I reset these and cleared all codes (Autologic Blue Box) and performed road test. Vehicle starts and idles perfectly put some power to it and it seems to take off normally boost starts to build and then the P150300 code sets and power is reduced to a bare minimum.
I assume the criteria for this code is a disagreement between what the calculated air flow through the engine should be and what the actual measured air flow is.
At this point I have tried my best to verify that there are no intake or exhaust leaks in the system and I have verified that the ECU can control the turbo actuator (Smoke testing and scan tool actuations).
Alldata Directhit etc have no code related information other than a technical service bulletin for 3 offset drift codes one related to idle, one related to load 1 and one related to load 2. (Fault Codes …
There is very little detail in that bulletin. There is no explanation on what the code set criteria is. After checking for air leaks they have you replacing maf connector pins, inspecting the egr system and then the intake manifold. The last two steps are really digging in.
I would like some theory before digging in. I feel like some scan tool data could make me closer to understanding the problem.
Does anyone have more insight?
Thanks for your help.
PRESSURIZE THE CAC SYSTEM AND LOOK FOR LEAK.YOU MUST HAVE LEAK. I SEEN WORST EGR COOLER CLOGGED THAN THE PICTURE AND STILL NO POWER ISSUES OR CODES.CHECK AIR FILTER IF FILTER IS AFTERMARKET AND CRAPPY. INSTALL FACTORY AIR FILTER AND RESET THE ADAPTATIONS.
