Quick question. This truck has the immobilizer system without RPO BAE. When replacing the ignition switch and relearning the security AllData only shows the 10 minute pass through option. Is that the only way to relearn this or is the old 30 minute relearn still an option?

We dont have the ability to do the 10 minute relearn so if its the only option I am not going to waste my time changing the switch.

Thank you in adavance for your time.

Hi Eric, Alldata has the same information as GM - Document ID: 1909717, so there is no 30 minute procedure.

Thanks for responding. That is what I figured but just wanted to double check, before I started.

Eric With or without RPO BAE you will need SPS and a pass thru device at minimum to compete the VTD learn on the vehicle. You would need to complete the 10 min VTD Learn for Powertrain System. After successful programming message is received you would turn the ignition off for 2 minutes then to the RUN position for 15 seconds then the vehicle should start. The old 30 min 10 min 3 times in a…

Why do you need to do a VTD learn if only replacing the ignition switch? Only time you need to do VTD learn is key, Theft deterent module, BCM, or ECM replacement.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the pass lock sensor part of the ignition switch on this vehicle without RPO BAE? I misspoke earlier as well without RPO BAE does require a VTD and with BAE does not. If I’m incorrect please tell me but the last Colorado I was called out to program was without BAE and it did in fact require a VTD learn. If I’m wrong sorry Eric for bad information I put out there.

Now I am not sure haha. Ill have to check when I get to work. But even if it is a passlock car changing only the ignition switch should not require an IMMO learn. I'll check when I get in front of my laptop.

I pulled SI on the replacement of the switch. This is what I found. Let me know if you have something different. Thanks.

Not incorrect at all. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I would have responded sooner but have been busy and just got a chance to get back on.

I am sorry guys,I stand corrected. Had no I idea GM still made a vehicle in 2012 with a Passlock sensor. Anyway yes SPS is the only choice to answer your question.

Will have to check as we do have an Autel. However will have to check the next one as I think my boss has decided to pass on this vehicle for now. The problem is a severely intermittent no start, no codes, and we havent been able to duplicate. It was at the customers request to change the switch as a guess.
