Pico 7 Beta

Craig Diagnostician Illinois Posted   Latest   Edited

Has anyone else been having issues with beta 7 ? it updated the first of the month and this version was uploaded to a new (manufactured this year) Windows 10 laptop, lots of ram new high speed processor , graphics card all Microsoft etc. I can open pico 6 or 7 files in 6 automotive in demo mode which is noted on the pico site. When I open 7 I have nothing displayed where the patterns would normally be. The program hangs during opening and is unable to open or display a waveform, I get a blank screen with occasional lines. It has opened correctly once or twice, I am unsure if this a laptop issue or software issue as my older laptop updated and is still working but struggling with beta 7.

Ok good to know, I was running it on a very minimalistic laptop and between Windows updates and the demands of the Pico, it's been suffering I was kinda shocked when a new well equipped laptop won't even load completely. Hopefully they fix it fast as I am much happier working in 7.

I wouldn't go that far as it is beta software, we know that problems exist and unfortunately we signed up for the experiment. Back to 6 it is for now.

As already noted, this is a Beta version. You don't have to use it! The Pico team are working really hard on this project. Garbage?? Send in your remarks to …, they want to know of problems first-hand. Not very helpful to a software team if you don't tell the people concerned!

Agreed, IMO Pico Software 6 was little easier to use and navigate.

Contact PICO and have them do a live link to work it out or have them roll it back to a previous edition.

I installed a version from around 3 months ago and had the same problem. But I will reach out to them tomorrow, I have not hooked the laptop up to my scope yet, I want to try that tomorrow morning if that doesn't fix things I will contact Pico.

The whole purpose of a BETA version is to test it on the public outside of their lab environment. Some times they do not expect problems, but they do happen. Get in touch with them, they do not know if a problem exists if they do not get feedback from the end users.

The truth is, beta software has issues and those who use it are essentially assisting the software company in resolving the issues. I will stay with v.6 until 7 is no longer a beta. I remember a few years back when Win 10.was brand new, I kept two laptops with Pico software on them - one was running Win 7 and the other Win 10. I would use the Win 10 machine unless it hiccuped and…

Good Morning All. I have both 6 and 7 in my home, shop and school laptops. For Mac users, 7 is a great addition. I have had virtually no problems with #7 and the only glitch so far is the lack of guided tests if you are using a Mac (it's there on a PC). It is a Beta and Pico have been responding to any emails I have sent them. The program doesn't seem to like tablets but otherwise we use it…

Hi Craig, Thanks for your comments and sorry to hear you're running into a few snags. As many have already stated it is a work in progress and we try to keep on eye on posts such as your own in order to better find the issues that matter most. For all though, the easiest way is use the built in ‘Send Feedback’ button. Alternatively email into …. This will then come straight…

Ben, after a couple of Pico software updates and many Windows updates the problems seems to have been resolved. I don't believe that it was your software rather an issue with the new Windows Iris graphics program as it worked perfectly fine on a new Acer laptop without the Iris graphics setup. It's been a couple of weeks and it has been behaving normally. Thanks for everything that you and Pico…

Hi Craig, Glad to hear you're all sorted now and you're up and running. PicoScope 7 Automotive Stable has now landed this week. It will sit alongside the Early Access version but should be treated as a fresh install so if you have any custom probes, math channels and start up settings you'll need to bring them into the stable version. There is more information on the forum -…
