I have a customer who brought me documentation regarding a GM performance software update to soften his ride. It states that it’s not available as a regular tis file and you have to call GM to get authorization and the file. Does anybody know if this can be done without taking to dealer. I have a GM script and mdi2. I called the ac Delco help desk was forced to leave a message and still have not received a call back. Thanks in advance for your responses

Yes, it can be done without taking it to the dealer. It requires a VCI number. if you've done GM programming, you should have seen a selection for “normal” or ”VCI”. When you select VCI you need to call GM and they provide you with the calibration file to do what you need to do. They just require your login credentials. There could be a wait for them to upload the file that you need, so prepare…

It appears as though the CAL file would be available via a VCI number. In TIS2WEB you would select VCI then input a number provided by GM tech line to access the file. I’m not sure if you can obtain the CAL file outside of being a dealership employee, but it’s worth a try. The Update may drastically change vehicle dynamics and thats why they probably don’t make it easily available. This is…

It is available outside the dealer, I’ve done this before. There are even some normal PCM flashes that require you to get a VCI number due to that fact that it’s just not on the server anymore. All they require for a VCI number is a valid ‘tis login, even a two day login is valid.

Most saying this is available outside of a dealer...programming and some VCI programming may be available outside of a dealer, but I don't believe this particular one is. I am a foreman at a Chevrolet dealer and have performed this specific reflash multiple times. It is a "GM Accessory" and the only way to get it is to have it billed directly to the dealer account. The customer pays a fee of…
