Programming?
Replaced ECM due to a lightning strike, no communication. Can communicate with all other modules. Used a Verus to write the VIN but was not able to save Data from old ECM. Now I can communicate with ECM but no start. No injector pulse but is firing. No codes. My question is do I need to download data from Nissan website? I cannot find or do I believe there is a immobilizer on this vehicle.
There is definitely an immobilizer. New from dealer? Needs software and it is a royal pain to do especially if you can not communicate with original module. Used? Not sure you can do used but if you can it needs the immobilizer married to the PCM
New from dealer. I took covers off steering cant find antenna or dongle . Has key no intelligent fob. If I go to body control sub system in Verus then to immobilizer i have no communication but can communicate with other subs. What am I missing.
Hi Tim, Allan is correct, a new module is blank & requires programming via consult 3+ or ners. Then the keys have to be programmed. Key programming and vin write will usually get a used module up and running.
Some vehicles came with and some without. The easiest way to tell is by looking at the security light on your dash or IPC. Also if the ECM needs an immobilizer to run it will (most likely) set a trouble code related to the immobilizer not being set up properly. Your local locksmith can program the immobilizer or you can use a tool like xtool or zedfull for programming.
Your right no codes and no security light. What’s so bad is I took vehicle to local dealer to program after install of ECM and was told by tech it didn’t need programming just VIN write. I explained I couldn’t pull data from old ECM. Bought a lot of parts from dealer you would of thought quick money for tech. Not sure if he didn’t know or just didn’t want to help?
All new PCM’s from dealer for Nissan now from 2013? and up come “blank” and will need programmed.
You need a new dealer and you are right that is a easy hour around here. Not sure why a guy would not want to program it, most of them I can get done in the parking lot. But I have seen techs that dont want to do cars from other shop and dealers that wont program for Independent Shops BTW I try not to be that guy
Looks like I’m going to have to download NERS J2534. Insurance job and I didn’t figure the cost of the download just dealer program. Anybody have any problems with J2534 Programming?
ALL 2010 Nissan & up if you are not "PATS" certified has to go to dealer for programing
Sure there is an immobiler. CAN communication must exist between immo and ecu with correct ID. Also the need for immo programming will be needed. Please consult the workshop manual from manufacturer or payed service from alldatta. com.
Tim, If going with new from dealer the PCM will be in auto registration and will learn NATS at key on. No key programming needed. I have done this multiple times. Remember, this is only on new. Not all PCM's on late models will need to be Blank Programmed. If part number is #23710-xxxx it has software. It may need to be updated but has software. If part number is #23703-xxxx it is blank. It…
23703-xxxx is what I have. Going to download NERS J2535 and give it a shot. thanks for the info!
Read the instructions in the TSB’s regarding blank programming, then read them again and again. Put the wrong file in it and it’s a paperweight. There is no going backwards!
