Ring Central

Hello Fellow shop owners and service advisors! We are looking at a Ring Central Phone system and wanted to know if any shops out there have had any experience with this system. We are increasingly using text to conduct business and personally I love it. This system has a insane amount of features. It will make texting much easier than using a couple of cell phones that we are always fighting over. It also has call screening features that may cut down on all the BS calls we get and just has too many features to list here. It really sounds good. Any thoughts? Which level did you go with and why? Are you utilizing cell phones with this system? Did you get it from a third party company ? How’s the support?

Their support isn’t great but none of the VOIP systems have great support. They have great excuses. But Ring Central is by far the best in the space presently. A lot of other services are Ring Central/Zoom rebranded. Have used them for several years and price x features, they offer the best bang for your buck so far IMO. Have a shop cell with it and it’s app is installed on local computers…

Thanks Ricardo, I have just started looking into it today and have not had a chance to call them and ask but one of my service advisors is looking into it for me. He was under the impression we could use our personal cell phones without the customer knowing our numbers then switch them to not ring after hours. A company called RTG has a pretty decent video on it and they claim if you buy through…

You can definitely install the app on several devices and set hours for when it would ring. You can also setup sequences for phone answering. It’s insanely robust and daunting. We use it for the basics for now and are happy in comparison to many other similar services we have tried. They will all promise you everything under the sun to get you on, just be warned… the second you sign and they…

Yes you are using the local numbers you “purchase” to make outgoing calls on. You are using your cell phone but the app is making the phone call. I know others have said they have had problems but to be honest we really haven't had any problems. We used to get a ton of robo calls and we created a phone auto attendant, press 1 for “…” press 2 for “….” cut out almost all of the robo calls. Worked…

Oh man, the near elimination of robo calls has got to be one of the most underrated features. Totally forgot because it’s been so quiet. LOL

The idea is Fantastic and our shop recently tried it as it was to make our phone and text handling extremely simplified. I read through a lot of the reviews and found most where negative with the quality but decided to try it anyway. Unfortunately it was an expensive failure. In our experience, as for told by the reviews, the system was extremely unstable. We constantly had missed calls or…

The VOIP Phones are definitely a disaster with the phone calls and everything you’re writing about, I most definitely experienced prior to Covid with Ring Central and a few other VOIP services. But since Covid, I feel like Ring Central has stepped it up, but I no longer use VOIP phones and only use the apps on phones or desktop. I also made some changes to the router to prioritize VOIP…

I was using it just this year during covid. I definitely noticed it was better with the app on the cell phone but still know I missed some calls there as well though the phantom calls were only on the voip phones. As I said I’m sure if set up properly they can be great. But having said that I simply just cannot afford to spend that much time to get it functional. Also they clearly not interested…

Stephen, I’m not remotely dismissing your experience and completely agree With everything you wrote. Just wanted to share how we overcame some of the challenges. Recording phone calls became a priority for us, so even though the support was horrid…. I still needed to record calls and that was only possible with a VOIP system. Which is why I tried at least 4 different systems and considered…

Have you looked at Google Voice? You could likely start with the free version. If you need support/features there are pay tiers as well…
