Recommended programming for variety of vehicles

Wanting to know what you guys recommend for flashing computers and basically all the modules. A bosch representative came by the other day. He was showing his scanners and J2534 programming device. Apparently Bosch's master tech 2 Vehicle Communications Interface (VCI) is the same one that GM and Ford uses at there dealerships. I didn't know that. I am looking for something that will program the body controls and air bags and all them modules basically. Also it can do other manufactures. Also the bosch scanners that supposedly do what my snap on does are much cheaper for around 2k! I'm looking at that as well as I need a better scanner for European vehicles. I'd like to see what you guys that do the programming repairs if your using OEM factory scanners or a more general pass through device.

A lot depends on what you are programming. If the pass thru has full factory functionality (diagnosis and programming), then I use the pass thru. If not, I would want the factory tool. So far, I am making do with some of the factory tools I would like and missing out on some programming charges for those I don't have. I would also recommend trying the pass thru first to verify functionality. All…

As for a European scanner the Drive Pro ES is great with the Autologic in it. They also have the ability to to program threw it remotely, but I have been really disappointed with them on that, so I am also looking to upgrade my J2534. I currently have the Cardac Plus 2, but not capable with the 3 CAN programming. So I to am looking for recommendations on Programmer. Thinking I need to stay away…

HI Roy, I was looking into the ES to get the coverage I don't yet have. They advertise all makes, models and modules… What vehicles have they been unable to program for you?

The Jeeps, Fiats and Nissin, honestly we usually program the other ourselves. One of the reasons we bought it was because of having them programming those new 3 can models. The Autologic in the tool is superb, and I know they are improving the rest as they go forward. Its not a bad tool, but if your looking for just programming Drew Tech has RAP program that may suit your needs but they are the…

I use GM VCI for a lot of manufacturers including Chrysler. FDRS supports it, but IDS still need to use Ford VCM. FJRS will, but only programming. Bosch is my choice.

Ford VCM2 and I believe the VCM3 as well, can be used as a J2534 device. This hardware would allow Full Ford IDS usage and cover J2534 as well.
