Key Cutting Machine Advice

Bill Owner/Technician Jackson, Michigan Posted   Latest   Edited

I am looking at getting into making / cutting automotive keys. I know some of our other members offer this service and i am hoping for some incite into this. I currently offer mobile programming services and have the tooling and software to program the keys and immobilizer systems. (I have VSP / LSID credentials as well) I just dont have any why to produce the key other than purchasing it from the dealer... there is also No automotive locksmith services in my local area either... I understand the machine will be a investment and would want one that is user friendly as i have very little experience with making keys, and it must be capable as i dont want to be saying i cant cut that key..... Thanks for your time and advise.

Low budget limited machines start at 2000$, The machine I speak of is just under 4k but does all automotive and residential keys. There are many that range up to 6-8k as well. Depends on the machines capability, warranty and country of manufacture. You can peruse many different kinds at americankeysupply.com

I just installed the Triton for a good friend in Des Moines, IA. I was a little nervous at selling a new design. The machine was easy to use and duplicated the keys very well. I have not purchased this yet. he explained that he bought…
