Missing option for re-learn?
Hello to everyone out there and hope you guys are staying safe. The story is: had a faulty BCM which had lost all functions to control interior windows and side view mirror motor angle operations so we got a replacement module- plugged it in and programmed it into vehicle using Tech2 with pass-thru. Now, I have a B1001 : Configuration Error and Service Airbag light illuminate.I was wandering if you guys had any ideas of why I can’t find any re-learn procedure on the Tech2 for module set-up for the SIR system as some service info says to d? Is there another way to go so the SIR module and BCM module all have the same restraint ID’s? Here’s what i come up with when being in the Tech2 SIR menú under Special Functions. Thanks for any input!
I have heard of situations where tech2 was missing options that Autel Maxisys had and Autel was able to relearn. Sorry not much help with specifics, but for what it’s worth..
How did you do the theft relearn? If you used the 30-minute procedure it will always set the B1001. You need to use SPS programming and choose “Vehicle Theft Deterrent for Passlock Sensor”. This is a 10-minute learn procedure which will automatically synchronize the restraints ID between the BCM and the SDM. If you have a J2534 interface, you can purchase access to programming for a single VIN…
Your looking for something like "transfer key to SDM" under BCM Set-Up. That is the step you missed. (SDM is the GM term for the SRS/airbag module)
Hi Tony,in my launch scan tool i go to Air bag and do set up SDM primary key BCM config. and thats it.snap on does it too.i never tried it on a Tech 2 so you will have to check in air bag module and see if it's there.autel does it too.
You have to configure the airbag module (SDM) with the new BCM. In the SDM, run the function “Setup primary key in BCM”.
Agree. Forced 10 minute theft learn with SPS. I have an old laptop with the last TIS disc loaded for those older trucks.
Yes, Todd is correct, VTD relearn with SPS on some of the Class II databus Full Size GM truck series.
The B1001 has nothing to do with the theft learn. The SDM key has not been set-up in the BCM. Hopefully it was a new BCM and not an AM module, or salvage, as many times the AM modules are not truly ‘wiped clean’/virginized, and cannot learn the SDM key. Salvage modules cannot be relearned at all. In the Tech2, there are two places where the key for the SDM is usually found as far as the…
But, it does. You are right about quite often on used GM bcm’s they are locked after programming to one car so if you swap it you can get everything done except the vin or airbag light. This old one does not care about the vin. You can put a used bcm or sdm in it and get the light out with the vtd learn
Tim, The information I provided about the theft learn came from a preliminary information bulletin in GM service information. Don't know why it was done that way in those years, but it is what it is.
So a update on B1001. Came to the shop this morning a little earlier than usual before shop opened- and since I still had the programming subscription for the BCM programming (thanks GM), I used it to go into SPS and search for the VTD relearn which was in the menu. Performed the 10 minute process and Service Airbag message disappeared! Thanks to anyone who took your time to respond to this…
