Heads up on trim ring

Crank / No Start

Recently I have ran into two no start vehicles that have a transponder around the ignition switch. The cause of the no start was due to an aftermarket trim ring that the owner installed on the column around the switch. The ring is metal with glitter stones on it. The metal ring blocks the transponder signal from reaching the key. Must be some kind of new product that people are buying at the parts store.

That's pretty funny, glitter stones....geez. Is there no end to the ways people will break their cars just to feel SPECIAL? LOL I hope they were girls.

Sure enough, I got called out for a no-start a few months ago. Same thing! I charged her a full service call fee!

Are you doing the service calls in the auto parts store parking lots? LOL Remember when Amoco came out with SpeedPass? Sounds so similar to back then. Thanks for the tip.

This is obliviously the auto manufactures expressing their sexist oppression of women and certain men who like to express their flamboyant life style by adding lots of bling accessories. I can not believe we can not organize a movement to allow the expression of ones need to bedazzle their vehicle! Where is the BLM now!!! (Bedazzle Life Matters)

Have you found these are hit and miss on when they block the signal thus not being very obvious to the owners what caused their no start?

Being a mobile guy I did not get to talk to the owners , so I can't say about the two I have seen.
