And yet ANOTHER GM fail…

Let's pile it on! Here's a new one I've never seen before

Attempting to program a PCM. This error happened just after validating the controllers.

Switched to a different laptop, but I still get the same error.

Awesome.

No response from ACDelco…

I havent had any issue's with sps2 for a while now. Ive been using cardaq2+ or the maxi jvci from im608. I always connect a battery maintainer up now and keep it above 14V. Seems most of my problems stemmed from a normal to slightly low battery voltage during programming.

I had that issue a few days ago. Two different laptops, browsers, and a Java update with the same results. The next day everything worked as it should. GM really needs to get this software corrected. They have had ample time to get the bugs worked out. It is very frustrating and costly to go on the road and try to program with negative results. On the other hand, the techline has been more…

The “back door” worked, so if you have access to that, should you find yourself in that position again, you can go that route.

How are you accomplishing that without getting access to it from Acdelco?

Hi Jeff, Do you mean TIS2000, or do you have access to the original SPS? I have a yearly subscription and when I logged into AC Delco I had access to the original SPS up till about 2 weeks ago and that selection disappeared.

I agree. I had the same problem 2 times last week. I don't think GM cares about us, but I started recommending Toyota trucks. Ford, GM, and FCA, in my opinion, all make unfixable junk. Hopefully someday GM will realize that WE sell products and that Merica doesn't want to throw away poorly made 100k junk every 3 years…. I hope for the day we decide to make good products well again, domestically.

ALL of the OEMs are on a trajectory to change the car buying public (which is a cohort that will, in the next few decades, become an extremely small market) into a renter economy. They do not want to build 100k-mile vehicles. They want to build cheap, “disposable” 36k-mile vehicles that they will take in trade for a new 36k-mile disposable every 3 years. The “owner” will just pay a “licensing…

Actually, completely the opposite. We are returning to the monopolistic/oligarchical structure that existed at the end of the 19th century.

Toyota? The ones who knowingly put crappy frames under their trucks for many years, forcing them to recall and (sometimes) replace the whole frame? And, speaking of 100K vehicles: when I was young, back in the 70s, here in the Midwest, it was almost unheard of to have a vehicle with over 100K on it, that hadn't had several major repairs. Vehicles are far better quality-wise, than they've ever…

“And, speaking of 100K vehicles: when I was young, back in the 70s, here in the Midwest, it was almost unheard of to have a vehicle with over 100K on it, that hadn't had several major repairs” Back in the seventies and eighties, it was a lot less common for people to drive 10k or 15k miles a year. Most of the 20+ year-old typically only had 50k or 60k miles on them. So it's kind of apples to…

I'll do a rough paraphrase from Martin Luther King: “it's impossible to pull oneself up by your bootstraps, when you don't have access to the boots…” And, if you read your history carefully, you'll find that most of that bootstrapping didn't happen the way we're all taught. Most of the so-called idealism stuff is not true. Most of the commercial interests in the ‘golden age’ were gotten/done by…

Actually, the average even back in those days (80s and later) was about 12K and rising even then. The average now, is about 18K for men and 17K for women. Lots of demographic reasons for this, but basically, we all drive more, going back decades. But, vehicles back then, were getting tranny reseals at about 50-60K, so even low mileage (for these days they'd be considered low miles) had major…

That error is not isolated to SPS 2 Jeff. It's happened when using GDS 2 in Techline Connect as well. For those who falsely believe that only the aftermarket is affected, It doesn't make any difference whether its aftermarket, dealer or corporate users, the problems being experienced are exactly the same for all of us and it is very frustrating to say the least.

Well, yes, of course. But the OE's have free access to the older system that the aftermarket does not, typically. Furthermore, the engineering versions of the online systems are significantly more flexible then what is sold to the aftermarket.

Hi Martin, It was my understanding that Techline Connect was going to streamline the process of working on a car. I realize I've gotten some of the subscriptions A La Carte, but I pay for GDS2, Tech2Win, and SI. (actually I don't pay for SI technically as I get it for purchasing at least $3,000 a month in parts) My current process is such a pain in the rear. I log into…

Hi Scott. Yes, the only thing the dealers do not face is the AVC, but every other malady that you guys are facing are issues that I hear about most every day of the week and experience some myself when using Techline Connect. Now, I rarely have the need to do programming any more, but lock ups, TLC shut down declined, having to reboot and other issues, are annoying for sure, but I hear about the…

Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. I guess misery loves company, which is unfortunate. I don't there's ever been a time that this stuff really needs to work, and really work well, than now. Given the geometric growth that is occurring with electronics and software and mechanically complex designs, it's no wonder people are leaving in droves when they're forced to work with the stuff that has been…

Hi Scott. Agreed. Never before has functionality of programming and diagnostic tools be taxed to the limit and experienced the current level of aired dissatisfaction from dealership and aftermarket technicians alike. GM cares. Of that I am sure. I personally have no idea why there are so many technical issues with these programs. Again, today in the middle of a class, GDS 2 kept connecting to…

Different car today, same problem. Still haven't heard from ACDelco on the last one. No one answering the phones today. SPS2 worked yesterday on a 2011 Silverado, but it doesn't like this 2016 Verano. Logged-in on all 3 of my machines with the same result. Tried several different interfaces. No dice. On one machine, it doesn't even give an error window. It just shuts down SPS2. I like the…

Just had a wonderful time, with both Nissan, and GM, but mostly GM today, and yesterday. Refused to grant me a VIN slot, even though I have prepaid a few VINs out…and of course, we all get to look really intelligent when this happens in front of customer(s)!
