So I’m trying to program a used ecm on a 2006 Ford Escape 3.0using FJDS and a VCM2, now the interface does connect with the vcm2 manager but when I’m in the fjds software it does not connect to the software I’ve tested it I’ve restarted the laptop the vcm is on but it just won’t detect it when I go into fjds, anyone had these problems??? Also I do not have the original ecm with me to manually insert the tear tag and part numbers how could I get them?? Thanks in advance

Have you connected it through the vcm manager?

So it will not connect via software, have you made sure fjds can see the module? In the settings for fjds. What vcm are you using?

Did you update the software lately, or install any other software on that computer, it could be bad software or misaligned drivers, also you can perform programming part install , but not turn ignition on when it asks for it with original ecm, then it will prompt you to enter information which will get all dealer codes for updated programming and part number

Yeah I’m trying to do the manual selection since it’s a used ecm and I haven’t updated anything

Do you get a pop up to select a VCM or any other J2534?

Just make sure you are not connected to it thru the Manager if it is not selectable.

Do you have access to PTS? If so once you enter the vin for the vehicle and are in the oasis initial screen double click on the VIN on the top left of the screen. It will bring up a window with a bunch of build data including the tear tag number

I’m not sure this is helpful but I’m thinking FJDS should be run with a J box VCM 2 should be run with IDS

Rusty, the vcm2 is also a J2534-2 thin of Bosch Mastertech VCI, its the same hardware if I'm not mistaken. I have used the VCM2 with other J2534 software as well. The VCM 1 architechture is different and will not pick up as a J2534. If you only do intermittent subscriptions, FJDS is cheaper for the short term if you use it that way.

Little off topic but I'll buy your bad core for $50 if interested send me an email. (…. I repair/rebuild these quite often and getting low on stock. If not mentioned, your teartag is ATE3 or part number 5L8A-12A650-AAD
