FJDS fails to find files but I was able to find them
Using FJDS 121.05 this weekend on the Fusion listed and also a PCM on the bench from a 2017 Lincoln MKZ resulted in the same error message for both vehicles saying that the “either calibration file could not be found or the tester needed to be updated”. So, first, it is not the tester that gets updated, it is the FJDS software of course, so it seems like this isn't even written with FJDS in mind.
The software is up to date, because I had uninstalled 119 and reinstalled 121 and updated to 121.05. Also, even after I went to DSFM and downloaded the calibration files, which obviously were in fact there, it still did not work. One remaining question, though, is where do I put them? The guidance from Ford is C:\Program Files\Ford Motor Company\Calibration Files\ which is wrong because FJDS is a 32 bit application that resides in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ford Motor Company\ and the calibration files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ford Motor Company\FJDS\Vbf (this is one of many places that I copied them to). So, again, it seems like this whole thing is written for IDS, perhaps?
I emailed for assistance explaining that I was using FJDS, that the software is up to date at 121.05, what the error was and that I was able to download the files… and got the reply of “here is the link to download the files” OK, no help there. But, I have not gotten any help from them in the past either.
Has anyone ran across this before? I tried (a longshot) creating a directory C:\Program Files\Ford Motor Company\Calibration Files\ but it didn't help, I thought it was worth a try. I could not see anywhere else that contained any *.vbf files that it may be looking for. Are there other files that it needs to download as well? The dialog box that popped up the error message only listed one file, a second dialog box came up for each vehicle for a total of four files and I was able to download them all.
There is a directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Ford Motor Company\FJDS\Calibration Files\ (iirc going from memory on that and it's on the other partition so I can't look at the moment) but there are no .vbf files in there.
Thanks in advance,
I was getting no love trying to use IDS on Sunday, then flakeyness today trying to do module updates. Not sure if it's the car, computer, or Ford.
I had the same problem with ids using vcm 3. 2016 F250 PCM reprogram. Worked fine with 121.04 last week but updated to 121.05 had the exact same problem as you. Have not contacted Ford.
The x86 directory under calibration file would be the correct folder
Thank you guys, I tried again Monday evening after I saw the first two replies and it went right through on the bench program for the Lincoln PCM, but the Fusion IPC still fails, I also tried a 2015 Escape IPC and it fails as well. I have been trying to get those IPCs programmed since last fall. I will make a separate post about those since it seems like it may be unrelated. This weekend problem…
