Program Volvo Key Pre-2004

Can't help with the request but how much does the dealer want?

I had a 01 v70, I wanted to get another key, 5 years ago it was 375 dollars US, they wanted to charge for the program, they also wanted to charge for a program access fee and then a charge for doing the programming. 125 ea. If this is how volvo does it they are crooked. We sold the car.

FYI when you use VADIS to program Volvo’s they charge you (the shop) an access fee of $71.34 for a 3 day subscription, they then charge you for each software package that you need to load which is usually between $45.00-$80.00. Marking up the costed software and access fee to make a profit and then charging for your time to actually do it the charge of $375 isn’t out of line at a retail price.

No I missed read ur are right 375 is reasonable

I've programmed a lot of keys, What Volvo charges is a rape The car already has a key that is programmed, the car does not need to have a p[program loaded into it, It just needs to have an additional key synced to the car.

Do you have a way to sync additional keys to Volvo’s without using VADIS? Please let me know. Seriously. It would save myself a lot of time and customers money.

You should be able to do that key with a j2534. The reason you cant do an S40 is because that car is a completely different vehicle​.​to anything else Volvo offered. It is expensive to do a key though so prepare the customer

Have you done a 2004 or earlier volvo key with Vida J2534?

My records show that I have done a 2004 V70 and a 2004 XC90. I have not done an S80, not many S80s around here

Well if you could do a V70 with J2534 I think I should be able to do a S80

So I found that the SW (program) for S80 is the exact part# used for V70. Thank you for taking the time Tim to look through your records this gives me confidence to take on the job, now let's just hope all goes way. And I wont hold you responsible if it dont, dont worry lol. Thx again.

Volvo is a extremely expensive marque to program, as all the software is al a carte and not included with the initial Vida subscription . I also don't think you will have much issue using J2534 to program the keys, don't forget if you are also adding remotes the software to learn them is additional.
