VisionKC — Diagnostic Network Co-Sponsor for Closing Keynote: ADAS to Fully Autonomous
Diagnostic Network is co-sponsoring the closing Keynote speech at the Vision Hi-Tech Training & Expo on Mar 3, 2019 in Overland Park Kansas. The topic: From Driver Assistance to Fully Autonomous, check out our promo video:
The future is here. Advanced Driver Assist Systems are upon us with driverless cars just around the corner. Today, artificial intelligence is at work and will affect every area of our modern world well into the future. Our Keynote Speaker, Fred Gruner, will share insights on systems in the fleet today and the fully autonomous technology that will affect the automotive industry in ways you may not have imagined.
Fred Gruner brings 25 years of developing cutting edge technology to life. Currently Fred holds over 50 patents and is working as a principal engineer at NVidia Corporation, in charge of safety for the CPU’s with driverless cars. This is a must attend Keynote presentation.
Hi Scott: Sounds interesting. I'd almost like to attend just to ask him about any zebra/fly effect on autonomous vehicles. Care to be my proxy? Guido
Sure Guido, I can ask but can you explain to me a little more about what you‘re after? I have to claim ignorance on the zebra/fly effect issue,
Hi Scott: It's been determined that the reason zebras have stripes is as a defense mechanism against biting flies. The stripes mess with their compound eyes and makes landing on the host animal difficult. From what I've read, the camera technology in autonomous vehicles is based upon the eye of a fly. It's been postulated that broken color line, similar in concept to the zebra's stripes…
Scott, Any chance there will be footage of this speech available the event? Since you first mentioned it, I've been pretty disappointed that I won't be there.
It’s not likely that we’ll be able to record this as the data he’ll be presenting is highly controlled which requires him to obtain clearance to present with high restrictions. (No audio/video recording allowed) However, I will have equipment at the event in case we’re allowed to record.
