2013 Rogue no spark on 1 and 2
Hi all. First time poster. I was called to one of my shops for a 13 Rogue. They replaced the valve cover gasket and spark plugs (oil in plug wells) and after the repair it only runs on cylinders 3 and 4. No spark from 1 and 2. Swapped coils around with no change. All coils have power and ground. Current ramp looks good on 3 and 4 but non-existent on 1 and 2. Trigger capture shows lower voltage on 1 and 2. I load tested all 4 coil trigger wires to the pcm with no issues found. They did break the alternator connector during the repair which popped the horn fuse. At this point It seems there are two failed coil drivers. Is this just a coincidence? Or am I missing something…..
Doesn't hurt to do hard reset aka disconnect both battery posts and touch them together for 30 seonds or so. Make sure no other small battery in car for auto start stop feature.
looks to me like the trigger wires for 1 and 2 are shorted to ground. One is at 500 milivolts the other at one volt. It's like those circuits have a bad connection to ground. Could they have pinched a wire, then saw what they had done when it ran crappy? Fixed the wire, but the computer now has fried transistors for those coils. Just a thought
I had the same thought. The harness looks intact, but anything is possible. The signal wires aren't shorted to ground now. The broken alternator connector and blown fuse scare me but none of that wiring goes to the ecm. Thanks!
Have seen chafed wires where e EC harness comes up over the head to run along the valve cover. See attachment.
No short to ground on the 1 and 2 coil command wires. The shop installed a preprogrammed ECM and the vehicle now runs as it should. I still have no answer as to why this occurred, but it's fixed. Thanks everyone for the insight.
