Need help. Car died on road while driving
First off, with that VIN number, how many batteries does this VIN have and locations. One under hood for starter, one in back rear passenger seat in trunk and IF 3 where is this 3rd mysterious battery?? Tore open driver side left dash no battery there.
Need help. So car died on the road while driving, just lost power. Got it towed to the shop
Scanned with Autel MaxiDas and Maxisys both scanner can't communicate with Motor Electronics and TCM and ISM. Every other modules read and can communicate except for those 3.
Now at quick glance I get message on dash "Visit workshop without shifting gear" and "Door Open Vehicle not in Park"
Now I know it's not starting because of the vehicle not in park? Is there a reset or something?
Now it got new batteries, new alternator and new starter.
Sound like the N15/5 Electronic Selector Module is bad, a very common problem with Benz. Coffee, Sodas or liquid spills fry them. Good luck.
No. TCM, ism and motor electronics(ecm) are not communicating
The Backup Batterie is only for Backup! If the Batterie is ok the car will Start! Lock for a wiring diagram ! Have the Engine ecu Power? Maybe the Power for the ecu and TCM are Not ok lock for fuse . Lock on can bus (high) for Communication ecu and tcm. If you have Time i can lock for a wiring diagram in my Workshop in 12 hours
Remove the shifter cover, play and press in the electric connector or try to start, check the Transmission Letters in the cluster to match with the shifter, when that happens normally the transmission ones doesn't match with the ones in the cluster, also you will never have Communication.
So is this to trick the computer into going to Neutral or Park and attempt to start the vehicle?
You lost drivetrain can. ISM failure common. Disconnect ISM and electrical connector at transmission for EGS and rescan. Should get communication with ME/engine control unit. If you do plug EGS back in and should get egs communication back. If both of these occur ISM is killing drivetrain can, ism has failed.
Turns out ISM was bad. Removed fused #83 from passenger side dash and that kinda clears it a lil bit, went underneath by Transmission and plug is hard to remove coz it's in a tight corner, wiggle it around a little bit and went back to instrument cluster and message changed to "apply brake to shift to park". Did that and car started but died after few minutes, didn't really care because we know…
Please see this link which might be helpful.. youcanic.com/wiki/mercedes…
The ISM is the problem; you can take a new one and program with Autel Maxisys Pro MS908P youtube.com/watch?v=9t03UD… or mercedes tool with passthru j2534 if you have an account
I don't have an account, I also don't have access to mercedes tool with passthru j2534
sorry you must have autel or mercedes tool or launch tool; maybe there is also a electronics repair shop in USA ? I used the Autel Maxisys Pro MS908P for this job In Austria another workshop us the launch
I have 2 of them. Maxidas and Sys. See pictures
One is the 908 if you Don t have the pro you can Update wich vci you have for the 908
Sorry I dont understand what you wrote? Can you rephrase please
Although I've never used the feature in the 908P it will program MBZ and BMW. This is a feature Autel provides only with the 908P. None of the lower models do this
Oh FML. I will call the stealership tomorrow and see what they charge to program a new ISM and Selection Sensor Adaptation procedure
