2017 Ford F-150 with Engine Noise
Here is a case study I have just completed. This Ford F-150 has an engine noise. New phasers and chains have been installed in an attempt to fix this. I hope this helps
Nicely done, Thank You! If it keeps any of us from having new chains and phasers on a bad engine, it was well worth the time to produce and is Much Appreciated.
Thanks Bernie, Thanks for sharing this with us. I am still trying to experiment with my Snap On Verus and use the microphones from my chassis ear set. I learned that online in a video a while back. It is tricky to do it but it works. The fact you can just plug them in on your scope if a nice option. Having the ability to track noise and synch it with other components really narrows down to…
Thanks! What borescope are you using? is the picture always that bright?
Hi Patrick, Bernie is using the ATS iC Inspection Camera: automotivetestsolutions.com/online-store/i…. It connects to any Windows based tablet or PC as well as Android phones.
ATS has some expensive toys, but they are the best in the industry. This stuff is like the medical equipment for the automotive technician. No one else can compare.
As per usual, excellent diagnosis approach! I love technology and be able to see the noise is the best, we ain't getting younger so this is awesome!!
Just imagine if you had hearing aids, it will drive you crazy trying to track down a noise and pinpoint it, even the simple ones.
Thanks Bernie, great info, things are changing so fast, this certainly helps keep things going in the right direction in the shop, Be well, Bob.
Great video Bernie! I just caught it on Youtube last night. I figured it had to be piston/wrist pin related as soon as you started getting the double tap.
Can't help but notice how coincidentally identical the concept of usage is of using the microphone clamps (steelman chassis ear clamps) compared to the theoretical practice I put into play in the presentation I posted on hear is. I just simply was not aware at all that this was a practice you have been doing for years and that these microphones have been something your company offered since this…
They do sell the separate also, but you have to figure out a way to get them adapted to your scope. The microphone requires power to function. The scope ATS makes has the connectors built in.
Sorry Rudy, this is not the place for this kind of reply, a lot of people come here for help and education and it is a great resource, pointing out our differences in this tone does no one any service, looking forward to some positive input from you in the future, be well,Bob.
