Unable To Load Gds 2

Good day all,

In an attempt to update the GDS 2 I ran into an error "The system cannot find the file specified - javaw.exe All other ACDelco programs I am running on this laptop work as they are supposed to, including their "Techline System Analyzer", which ran and claimed all is good.

I have tried everything I know to resolve it except calling the helpdesk (as suggested when I e-mailed them... "The issue you are describing is not handled by the ACDelco eBusiness Help Desk. Therefore, please call ACDelco Aftermarket at …, Prompt # 2 for this type of assistance").

Before I do, I was wondering if someone else has already resolved this problem?

Thanks in advance!

There is an GDS java that needs to be installed. I had to call and have them remote in and install it. I can see if they left the file. it was an easy fix for them

Hi Sam. I see there's a GDS2 Java in "Add & Remove Programs" on a different laptop that is NOT on mine. I'd appreciate it if you would share the installation file with me if you can find it. Windows Registry shows a folder in which the installation file - GDS2JavaInstall.msi - originally resided but the installation log file indicates the file was deleted after GDS2 was

For everyone's consumption... shouldiremoveit.com/GDS-2-Java-839… Good info (but didn't solve my problem). The web searches for the file were fruitless. I finally broke down and called the number after reading the GDS2 Install Log files found on a working laptop, that "GDS2JavaInstall.msi" is deleted from the computer - whether it installs correctly or not - when one attempts to

I will try to find it when I get home. Just went through this exact problem less than a month ago. The lady wasn't 60 seconds on my computer. I am sure she left it. Finding it will be issue

Hi Jaime: A few thoughts, if you don't mind. Take a gander at Page 7. gsi.ext.gm.com/userguides/Aft….pdf Then clean up the garbage and attempt to install it again. BTW, I advocate against security software or firewalls when using these types of programs. All it takes is GM making a change or the security vendor doing so and your day

Guido, For my own edification, can you clarify a bit? I run a designated laptop for certain applications as many here do. I use a dedicated wireless hot-spot that is used for nothing but the specific laptop; are you advocating something similar to this or perhaps a different way of doing it? I'm interpreting your statement as just making sure you quarantine your programming from your business

Hi Chris: You've got a handle on it, for now. What I wrote will change and is changing. The smart money says to let the OEMs figure out what they want to be when they grow up. Once the dust settles then lock things down appropriately. The people in the dealerships are working off an extranet or their own server library. It's easier for them to secure because everyone is using the same toys. But

Chris, What Guido means is to purchase and use your own dedicated hot spot (as you do) for internet access for any remote programming or internet necessary connections. There are some very good reasons for doing this. First and most important to me is repeatability, since your connection is always the same no matter where you go it will work equally well at all locations (subjective to the

Good day Guido, Thanks for your advice and suggestions. Prior to attempting to renew the lease and update the GDS2 software near the end of February, everything worked as designed - for years. I verified all the exceptions before deleting anything, several times, prior to contacting the helpdesk. During yesterday's exercise in frustration they were checked and verified manually once
