P1646

This vehicle came into shop from used car dealer that bought from auction. Originally had a U0100 code in the system that would not clear. I noticed vin was mismatched to vehicle and it had a used tcm in it as well. It appeared to have a Ecm from a manual transmission car so we went ahead and attempted a reflash to the correct vin on a used Ecm. Now I went and borrowed a tech 2 with a Suzuki card but that only lists the Bcm and Abs when it did work for this model. So now I am stuck on where to go as it seems nobody around me has a Suzuki tool. Looking for options as we tried a used ecm and that automatically updated the vin to it and became a no start. Now when I try to reflash it wont allow it as it states its at current calibration level.

What version of Tech2 software was being used? You have to register the existing keys with the replacement ECM.

Yeah tried using suzuki cards but not available via tech 2 requires the suzuki tool but was hoping there was another one that could perform this. According to their information you can just swap ecm no problem but this one acquired the vehicles vin hence the issue as it started for a brief second until the vin was automatically put into ecm. This is not a key issue its a immobilizer coding

My Tech2 card does the same as yours...So, looks like the ECM and TCM on the SX4 are done via the SDT tester. If you can't find one I know where one is. They may rent it to you. email me … You do have a key issue. The ECM does not have the proper key IDs registered. The ECM contains the stored IDs on this model. You will need the PIN code. Good luck with this one!

That would be great I believe I have the pin code as there is a number written on the door otherwise can purchase it from suzuki for 20 dollars. I would of thought the theft light would stay on but it does not. Wonder what the rental fee would be on that factory tool.

Update. This car was fixed with correct PCM and Key Antenna and programming to vehicle. This was a odd ball from Canada which requires immobilizer systems where the US models did not.
