Nissan BCM Programming

2017 Nissan Altima 2.5L (QR25DE) (RE0F10D)

Yesterday I had a call to program a 2017 Nissan Altima BCM. The inhale process was ok but a little rocky. The Consult III plus tool rejected the inhaled data when trying to move it to the new BCM. BCM was a factory part in factory box. I tried to configure manually but the car was not having it. The result was keys got programmed but the configuration seemed to be set for a manual transmission. This was not even an option to change in the listing. The car would not start. The vehicle had to go to the dealer where they used FAST to program the missing configuration data. FAST access seems to be missing for those of us in the aftermarket? Just be aware that when one asks you to do a BCM, this may be the result of your trip. The process seems to be much like the Ford As Built data. I get calls for Nissan BCM rarely so it was a new frontier for me. Maybe others have a better answer out there?

Hi Mike I have had some success emailing their support at … they are fairly quick at getting back to you with missing files . I hope this helps on your next Nissan.

I did a bcm on an 09 infinity the other week and ran into the same issue. My recently retired boss had an autel maxisys elite that had an option for coding. Was able to see a number on the old bcm and was able to choose it from a list to put it into the new bcm. In about 5 seconds the message on the dash switched from depress clutch to start to depress brake to start and everything went back to…

I was curious about your comment so I googled microcat. I came up with a Ford electronic parts catalog. Is this what you were talking about or is there another product with the same name?

I'm talking out my ass here, because I don't know any of this, it's just some guessing. I do virtually no Nissan work these days and I let my Techinfo and Consult subscriptions lapse a long time ago. Nissan has been shipping blank ECMs for a while now, which need programming rather than reprogramming. Maybe they're doing the same thing with BCMs? Perhaps the BCM needs to be programmed with the…

The FAST Access for Nissan is mostly issued to the Dealer's Parts Departments from my knowledge.

Michael, As far as your BCM issue goes. Kevin stated that emailing tweedle and waiting for Config file. I have had decent luck with that but the wait can be up to 48 hours. Which in the mobile world is an eternity. Up until last year the Nissan parts program called FAST had the Config files embedded within the program. The new program is called Nissan EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog) and is web…

Thanks John, It is sad to say there are some OEMs that give the aftermarket most of what they need and others only what they have to. Yeah, 48 hours is not going to work in the mobile world.

The aftermarket is not the only guys suffering. I performed 7 manual configurations with sundowns and test drives on a 21 titan xd today to find the correct file due to type ID not being listed in EPC and FES/ NML not having an as built list of configs for the vehicle. From what I see on our newer vehicles like 21 rogue and 22 pathfinder ,repro/configuration is going to be built into the gateway…

Michael, The inhale is only for the configurable parameters, it does not inhale the module programming. You must first get the fast linked file. There are a few ways to do this, but the one that works best for me is calling the dealer, having them look it up, then buying the programming data through the Nissan site. You would then program the module first, then use the inhaled configuration…

Hi Michael. Thanks for the post. I had one this week (2017 Rogue) that I inhaled the configuration and it transferred fine, but many U codes afterwards. Do you think the fast linked file would fix this? and is that based off of the hardware number of the ECU or something in EPC? Or? Also, are you then programming it via the Reprogramming tab or the fast linked tab? Thanks.

Jamie Fraser, Michael Phelps has explained it in his response above better than I could. Nissan dealers have access to data we do not. It appears that the BCM modules come with a dummy loaded program and have to be not just configured but programmed to operate properly. In the past, I have just copied the MCU data from the original to the donor. The newer BCMs are secured. I have not found a…

Michael and others, I reached out to Michael Phelps privately to clarify his procedure that he was talking about. We discussed at length what happened in his situation and it was not a BCM programming. I will let him elaborate further if he wants to. There is no true programming for this BCM. Configuration yes. As I stated previously Consult 3 Plus inhale/exhale procedure has not been…
