Friends,

My son (in Ohio and I in California) is asking for assistance on the repair of the daytime running lamps on his 2017 Pacifica mini-van. The headlamps have an integral lighting section that appears to be LED for the DRL's. The headlamps work fine but one side has no DRL. The Chrysler dealer quoted him a little over $1000 to replace the one headlamp. The bumper has to come off and Alldata lists the HID headlamp assembly as $859 so the price sounds about right. However, I found this on Ebay, ebay.com/itm…

They are made in Mexico and of course, I have no idea what to expect in terms of quality but I wonder if anyone else has used this or a similar aftermarket product. Thanks for any enlightenment.

Be ready for fault codes with a aftermarket housing with them, better off finding a used one at a salvage yard and the Pacifica bumper is no joy to remove.

This kind of poor quality is so typical of Chrysler and other domestic brands. Sad thing is in a couple of years, it won't even be available from Chrysler.

This is a FIAT based product so they have a great reputation for quality on their own, LOL

The light will likely be dimmer as the LED's are low quality. I've scene this happen on a Lexus led tail lamp housing.

It is stated to be OEM, and appears to be. Of course, what is shown and what is shipped are not always the same thing. It might be Magnetti-Marelli. OEM now ends in “H”, and is only a little more expensive.

Probably one of the wonderful EBAY bait and switch sales. show OEM part in a box take some pics out of the box and sell as OEM. Only way to know if it is a OEM part is to order it and see if it comes in a Mopar box which is what it would be in from dealership or the box may have all FCA brand logos on it.

Hi Phil, I found this statement by the seller to be an indication of what might happen - “Please check your car OEM and make sure the products is comfortable for your car before your pur….” First thought, English is not their native language, although they show to be in OK, USA. I clicked on their feedback and now they show to be from China. If a deal sounds to good to be true…

Hi Phil, that price sure is tempting compared to the 859. I would certainly go for it. My only other thought is, is a used one available? If not, I would give it a shot.

I appreciate all the feedback and some gave me a nice laugh, as in the meaning of “OEM”. However, in consulting with my son over the lack of the LED light strip under his right headlamp, it seems that the cost to repair exceeds the benefit by a considerable margin, even with the Ebay headlamp. Removing the front bumper looks to be a serious project as well so this vehicle is not going to get…
