Question on replacing a radio on above vehicle. Can it be done w/sps using a used radio as I have been having all sorts of trouble w/used modules using the new sps. Work arounds?

I just went through an issue with an 06 GTO and a PCM/PIM linking process. I had to call the techline, and they granted me 24 hour access to Tis2web so I could use my tech2. May be worth a call so you can get into the old system. It seems to work better with the older stuff.

Do you have a tech 2? Pretty sure that car needs only radio set up either new or used and only tech 2 can do it. I don't think it needs sps programming.

After checking some more over my lunch hour, I believe you are right. I do have a Snappy Zeus. Will have to see if that has the capability to do it.

I have not. Just want to make certain I can do the job.

BTW: forgot to mention you can usually only do a VIN relearn 4 times on most vehicles, then the Radio will lock out permanently!

On the older cars (~Pre 2010), you can reprogram just about any radio or ecu, except some BCM's (which are program once modules). Alldata states you have to do a VIN relearn on this one… easy to do with a Tech2, never tried with Snappy tool. You don't need SPS, just a Tech2. On the more complicated Radios, VIN relearn won't do, you do have to program all the vehicle options & a VIN…

Going to try Snappy Zeus tomorrow if not, wondering if I can use Tech II win as an alternative to a Tech II. Have used it before to program certain body control modules with J box.

Tech2 win is the same as a Tech2

As multiple others have stated, this only needs the set-up done with a capable scanner. I have a Tech2, so it's never been an issue. Not too sure which AM tooling has the capability.
