Programming GM Vehicles that have been Branded (Salvaged)
What repair are you unable to perform?
GM, VIN # 3GNAL3E55CS607100, 2012 Chevrolet Captiva, ECM PMI Software install, Non Global a vehicle, suppose to be a new ecm, already had a vin attached
tried to program, had error code SPS error E9044: Lock Not Obtained, tried to reset several times, no luck, left message with GM Tech assistance, She did call and Stated quote “ Techline Connect will not rewrite a used vin and since the vehicle has a Branded Title (Salvaged) there will be no assistance from GM Tech " Customer received another ECM from the supplier
unopened package, installed the new ECM and software no concerns, finished, started to relearn IMMO. Problem again, SPS Error code E9044, Lock Not Obtained, Why ??? I did manage to finish the job with a Locksmith Tool, performed all the necessary resets, Read Clear all codes,,,, DUNE
What information are you having trouble obtaining?
People at GM Who actually care and will listen, when she stated that the system will not rewrite a vin, and never had, I did explain I have been doing the used ECM's for 15 years No Problems, Car has a Branded Title (Did A Car Fax, it stated the airbags did not go off either) They will not help in any way from GM, another quote Every time I see a Techline Connect update that is almost a promise for problems, this is not the first time either

Michael, I will provide this information to AC Delco staff but I do not think that it can be said to constitute a service information request. The agreement does not require an automaker to provide something they do not provide to their dealers. From AC Delco: This is a grey area. We do not prohibit customers from working on branded vehicles (Salvaged), we just won't offer any support if they run into issues. They’re free to repair and program as much as they want.
