GM J2534 Wrapper
I have programmed a couple GM vehicles lately and I get a window for software instalation. Installed J2534 Wrapper version 1.04.5.0. Available version 1.05.1.0. When I attemp to install newer version it fails. I ignore it and program the vehicle anyway. What should I do?
Download internet explorer if it’s not on your laptop. Not edge. Then run IE as administrator. Install wrapper. Installation will go through now.
You should update it. You will need to run it as administrator in IE11. Just updated a lab top to Windows 10 and struggled to get the wrapper installed. It will not work in Microsoft Edge.
you need to run internet explorer in administrator mode. Then the wrapper will install. the firat time this happen to me and I ignored the fact that the wrapper didn’t install, I did the programming anyways and bricked the module. Cost me $400! Just run internet explorer in admin mode then start TDS. It will work fine.
Vern. You should update it. Running internet explorer as administrator is the solution. To run as administrator in windows 10 simply type in “internet explorer” in the search box at the bottom left of your tool bar. Right click internet explorer in the search results and select run as administrator. Now use this window to access sps and the wrapper will update.
GM updated their programs without telling us. What a pain, but yes internet explorer only works. And you have to run as admin and I would add java and the gm sps website to.your allow setting on IE11 so it never gets blocked.
Jorge is correct. Run IE as an administrator and then update the wrapper. I just did it today.
Instructions on how to update wrapper.
Thanks Isaac, that was about as clear as any knucklehead like myself could understand.
Thanks, I will double check this when I get back to that computer. My computer was professionally set up again when the Windows 7 Pro was no longer acceptable to many Manufacturers. This computer is only used for programming GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota. When this computer was purchased it was originally a Windows 10 Pro computer that was downgraded to Windows 7 Pro. It has the proper speed…
Thanks Isaac Rodell, the guide you posted was very helpfull and resolved my issue. It updated to the newer version without any issues, I will need to keep this in mind when doing updates on all my other computers also. Have a great day everyone!
