this is cranking capture, ignition disabled. Based on your pattern I kinda suspect you may have an oil pressure loss in the vanos system. I would advise to do the air check the vanos unit and look for movement and listen for massive air loss. Air checking requires the fitting from your tool set to tap into the oil supply line and using something to activate the solenoid (switch or power probe)…

Just small tip to add to Justin's post, when checking the system with air at the oil feed port, yes there is a fitting, but you can also do what I was shown at the dealer if the fitting wasn't around, you can take an old used vanos line and cut it to where you can still bolt it in with the banjo to the vanos but the other end is open port where the rubber hose gets cut and you can feed air that…

Justin, the images are from a running engine. I forgot to attach #1 cyl. marker.

I performed a Vanos air test. It seems to be working properly. The images I attached were from a running engine. If someone can supply me with a known good image I'll perform the running test again this time with a number 1 cyl. marker. The data is showing a 5.9° adaptation this is an alignment issue I believe.

2 problems were found. Oil control valve that was replaced was not oe. It was cheap part that wasn't working properly so the air test was not accurate. We put an oe oil control valve and performe air test. Found exhaust vanos leaking air.
