FCA Programming Question
I just purchased a micropod2 in order to service new Chrysler’s and the secure gateway module. Are those that already own one buying the 3 day or year long subscription? I'm trying to predict the volume I might be seeing so I can plan accordingly. I'm not interested in the annual if it doesn't make sense. I appreciate any help and or guidance on this topic.
Also if a 3 day subscription is purchased is it instant or does it take a while to kick in?
It is instant. I personally purchase it a year at a time. But then again I do mobile programming and fca is 30% of my total business. Customer that I sell a micripod2 I suggest short term until they can justify an annual. Most opt for the annual at renewal time
There are two required subscriptions. Witech2 for the diagnostic portion of the tool and Tech Authority where you get the programming files. If you can afford the year subscriptions, it is much more convenient. We look at the cost per programming session. If you are shelling out $70 to program one vehicle your profit goes in the toilet. The more you can do during the subscription, the better…
I did purchase it through AE Tools. They suggested I wait until I needed it to activate it. I have been able to do without it for quite a while, but I ran into two instances where I did need it over the last month so I decided to buy one. I feel I could benefit from a year subscription, but I am not sure financially it will be worth it. I am leaning towards 3 day subscriptions. I usually program
Hi Michael: I have to disagree with you concerning: "If you did not buy the Micropod from AE Tools or one of their dealers it is not likely you can get it activated." I/we sell microPOD2 units and we have not had any issues getting them registered for our customers. The same goes with wiTECH 2.0 and T/A subscriptions. Granted, I'm not apt to pick up the phone on a weekend but I've been known to
And to add to this discussion... does anyone know how to add options to a Dodge/Chrysler/FCA vehicle without Dealer Connect? Let’s say a customer adds a hitch and towing package with trailer wiring. It will not work until it is added to the vehicle profile through Dealer Connect. Then you run a “Restore Vehicle Configuration” and the trailer lights work. Is there a way to do this trough Tech
Some options can be added with the help of AE Tools tech support. Using the micropod 2.
AE tools can add sales options thru rpo codes. They charge a small fee, but they are really great about offering this option. If I can give any advice, have the rpo sales code for the option you are adding. It will make it much easier for all.
I think this changes depending on model and package. I ran into a Jeep the other day that the tire size couldn't be changed. AE Tools said they were able to write a file and the dealer said they could do it but would have to get a file (I assume from AE). I have heard this can be the same when adding packages or modules as well but I'm not completely certain.
I have yearlys for the Micropod and techauthority and I do enough to make it worth it but not like some of the others and this is primarily because Witech doesn't go back that far. diag.net/file/f21lmjeq7… I would start out with 3 days. I think the magic number for those was 3 a month for programming but that tool is pretty nice to use for diag as well. I would plan ahead of your
Hi Mike. Would you have a complete list of what Chrysler vehicles use which scan tool?
We just got one last week from ae tools . i purchased the tool and a year subscription to witech. Also purchased the three day for tech authority . since it’s already paid for we have the access code to it . This means the minute we need it for programming we have it . We will continue to do it this way until the cost of keeping a three day subscription ready to go outweighs the cost of the
Tanner, Witech software only is 1600/year. fcawitech.com/aftermarket Side note: We spoke at the last ATG class they had in Greenville. I know you were working pretty hard to get that together. I've been to the GM class but if you need more people to keep the numbers up let me know. I will ride up amd might be able to convince a couple others to come with. Take care.
