We are looking into a ADAS tool. What are the limitations to the autel system ? What do you recommend for the best multi vehicle tooling?
I've heard that Autel re-sizes their targets.
I don't think that is entirely true, at least anymore. I think Autel did resize some, mainly Honda, and found that there were issues. They now have OE sized targets. I'm not campaigning for or against using them, just that I'm pretty sure they used to have some resized, got bit, and have since moved away from it.
Incorrect. Autel has ONE downsized target for the dual calibration Honda's. This is the only downsized target. Autel also offers the OE sized target for these same Honda vehicles. Many shops use the Autel targets and frame with OE scan tools. It is the Autel ADAS software that is for use only with the Autel calibration frame.
I know there is no perfect tool ! With that what would the approximate percentage of vehicle that the autel will be able to do ? We have oppurtunity to work with body shops that work on mostly newer vehicles (2 years old) is that going to be a issue with the autel?
Wow! Your (website) shop looks very nice! Hunter has just teamed up with Autel, according to my sources. Limits to the Autel ADAS set? Other than the legal worries relevant to Autel not being a US based company. The only one I know for sure was a Honda issue I heard of from one of my New Jersey Mobile Diagnostic customers last week. He has the full 30K setup from Autel. Autel has modified…
Thanks for the nice words about our site! Thank you much for your input !
Ken, I suggest that you look at the percentages of makes going through your shop. As a norm 50-60% of the vehicles going through your shop are likely Asian. With that information you can approach targets. Bosch makes the trihedral for Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, Scion Hyundai, Kia, and Mazda MM radar calibrations. Hunter makes the 3 position target for Nissan, Infinity, BMW, VW, Audi, and Jeep…
