Anyone else seeing duplicate posts?

Phil Technician Tewksbury, Massachusetts Posted   Latest

The last week or so I am occasionally noticing duplicate posts. Wait a day and it may go away and then a day or two later I see a new duplicate post. I'm seeing two of them today. I am running Chrome Version … (Official Build) (64-bit) with Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1903.

Thanks for the report. I am not seeing this on my end, but I will definitely start looking into this. Can you tell me what webpage address (URL) you're at when you see these duplicates? Also, can you tell me if you have any browser plugins or extensions installed? Finally, how reproducible is this for you? I'm wondering if you do have extensions or plugins installed, if you disabled them and…

The URL in the browser bar is diag.net The only Extension that I have added is Adobe Acrobat. It also shows Google Docs and 3 Chrome Apps on the Extension Page for Chrome, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. I don't remember adding those, so I assume they come wrapped up in Chrome already. I disabled the Adobe extension and then shut down Chrome completely and restarted. No more duplicate…

OK so just to be clear, you're on diag.net homepage, and have not filtered the view down to any specific topic, user group, or message type, right? In terms of dual monitors, that should have no impact. Based on the extensions you listed, I'm not expecting the changes you made to resolve the issue for you long-term, but yes please let me know if it happens again, and I'll keep…

Correct, I am on the homepage with no filtering. Viewing 'All Messages'. I'll let you know if/when I notice the duplicates again.

Yeah, spam filters are kind of a black box, very difficult to debug. There are hundreds of possibilities. The best remedy would be to add … to your contacts list, and to flag all the DN messages that went into your spam folder as "Not Spam." I will take a look at our email service provider to see if there are any red lights flashing though, so thanks for the report.

I see them too Tom. Different computers, different locations, using both Firefox and Chrome, never the same post twice though. I just thought it was a bug in the browser request. It happens about once or twice a month. Old posts that I've already read, not any new ones that I can remember it happening to. Most of the time I don't even pay attention to it, I just scroll on by. Next time I view…

Windows 10 has a lot of issues. With Chrome it is almost impossible to block pop ups which itself interferes with loading of pages.I found that Firefox has been the most reliable browser for Windows 10 but still Windows 10 has too many issues.

I have one duplicate post today. It would seem the computer gods have a sense of humor.

I just noticed after updating this post that I still show the duplicate posts, but only the one that I clicked on to update shows as viewed. Does this help Thomas?

Yes, thanks Phil. The other interesting clue is that even though it’s the same message, the time stamp in the upper right corners are different. I’ll keep investigating.

I think I've figured out why this is happening, now I just need to implement the fix. Essentially, what happens is you load the homepage, and a dozen or so messages are loaded. Time passes. Later, but before you've reloaded our site, a new discussion is posted. You don't reload the homepage, you just continue scrolling from where you left off. This triggers a request for our server to send you…

The issue of duplicate posts appearing in the message streams should now be fully resolved. Please let me know if you see otherwise.
