Any Bosch ADS 625x Users here?

Travis Mobile Technician Wisconsin Posted   Latest   Edited

Just looking for your input on the Bosch ADS 625x or any others in the Bosch or OTC line of scan tools. How does it compare to your other tools? Does it just sit in the corner and collect dust or is it your go to tool? I don't know if this can fill any holes for me but I am looking anyways and would to hear what you have to say about it.

Thank you.

I use Snap-on solus, Auto Land I-scan 3, Autel maxisys, and various oe tools. I've test driven opus ivs with little success, but I haven't tried bosch. Should I?

It has a lot of holes the wire diagrams and servic data is decent tho I think it’s motor. The updates aren’t cheap and it’s very very slow. I loved mine when I first got it then hated it when I got my thinkcar and autel. Mostly thinkcar. if I were you I’d get the TopDon remote it’s a full scan tool but like auto logic too with no subscription it’s $150 for remote programming session. I’ll find…

Thanks. TopDon Remote was also in my searches to fill holes and the more I looked, I agree that does seem a better option. Thanks for the feedback.

I have to say if using motor then wasn’t subscribed or setups corrrctly. Yes motor uses motor. But only as a backup I also despise motor labor and repair info. It’s my least and always final option But with my subscription on 525X I have access to all OE and dealer level diagrams. So I’m not saying your wrong. Just want to make that clear. I’m just sending this message out of curiosity and with…

I use Bosh 525X. I love it. I am an ase certified master technician and small buisness owner. I find it way better then Autel and launch. I have used all three. All three do same job. Where bosh shines is that there owned by otc now. They have access to dealer level repair guides and oem diagrams. I find coverage to be most complete with bosh. Yes it true, no scanner will do everything. They all…

I normally don’t comment on others comments and def happy that you like the Bosch but I have to disagree and feel it’s a mistake to buy it over other makes. OTC is now Bosch not the other way around, Bosch automotive makes the scanners. I own every scan tool out there and I have to say Bosch is a complete waste of money. It has so many holes it can sink a boat. No key/ immo limited, the graphing…

Thank you sir for this feed back. Sorry if I explained otc bosh relationship wrong. What you said is what I was trying to say. What i get for replying to a message after an 18 hour shift On side not I was saying that otc and bosh are dealer oem approved scanners. OTC/ now bosh is on almost every car manufacturers approved list of scanners. Bosh got certification from otc brand acquisition. I…

Travis, I have a 525X, it's a love hate relationship, I have it equipped with the battery tester and tpms tool as well as the enhanced data subscription. Pros: Lots of bidirectional controls, I have seen tests in this tool I didn't know existed. Vehicle coverage is extensive and more getting tests and controls with each update. Very nice code reports, basic code and in depth pulling all oem…

Hello Craig! I have the 525X I bought it about 6 months ago and only with standard subscription, all good until about 1 month ago I have not been able to access the 2018 + Dodge models (unlock security getaway module) all my other scan tools do it without any problem, I have not contacted Bosch support yet, do you know anything about this problem, or do you think I should contact Bosch for…

Francisco, I really don't have an answer to your question, I know at times my Bosch, Thinktool, and Autel all have had issues connecting to the SGW site at one time or another. So if it's only the 525X and it won't connect at all, I would consider calling for support.

Francisco, Did you set up the tool on Auto Auth? If so you may have made the same mistake I did. On some of Bosch's tools, the tablet is the brains of the scan tool, but on others it's the VCI. This is the case with the 525 and 625 x series. You need to use the serial number from the VCI as opposed to the tablet like you would probably think. It's also this serial number that Bosch will request…

Thank you Zachary, I'll try it tomorrow as it makes sense and yes the serial # I used was from the tablet.

Good Evening Travis, What is currently in your scan tool arsenal? If you already have a Snap-On, Autel, and/or Launch then it will not fill any holes for you. I have the OTC Evolve and it is a good scan tool but it does not fill any holes. It is like a Snap-On scan tool when it comes to resets and relearns. If it says it will do it then it will probably do it. The graphing on the Bosch line…

With those scan tools I do not see the Bosch line of products filling any gaps you might currently have. Personally, I think your money would be better spent on something else like the TopDon or ThinkCar. I have both the TopDon and ThinkCar. The ThinkCar is probably the way to go because the updates are cheaper and it is the same software.

Between the ThinkCar and TopDon do you find a use for both since they both have the same software or can they do things different from each other?

I was hoping that the company that looks to be making most of the OEM interfaces would have one of the better tools available as well but it looks like that isn't the case. I already have the Launch Diagun V but the Topdon Remote is looking like a pretty good option?

Hey Travis, I have the 525x which uses essentially the same software in a smaller package. I do believe the 625 has some additional features, but there's not a ton of difference. It's not a bad tool, but it's probably my least favorite aftermarket scan tool overall. The PID graphing is much better than Launch or Autel in terms of refresh rate, and you can see wiring diagrams and basic SI right…

Yes sir, I know. I have an account myself. What I was getting at is that when I first set up my 525x on Auto Auth, I couldn't get it to unlock the SGW on Chrysler vehicles. I realized after a conversation with Bosch tech support that I was using the wrong serial number. The “brains” of the 525 & 625 X series are in the VCI. This is why (I assume) it has to be powered up during updates. So…

I have one. It is not a very capable tool. User interface is nice but it can’t do anything my Autel can’t do and the Autel does a lot more. I have pulled it out a few times hoping for something when nothing else would work and it did nothing for me.

Thank you all for your feedback. I did decide the Bosch wasn't the tool for me. Decided to go with the Topdon Remote from Jay Quinlan. Seemed a better fit with my current kit. Also offers some remote programming that may come in some day if it fills a hole in my tooling. iScan was also in the running but my area doesn't have the Euro car count needed to make that tool a priority. Future…
