SPS2 problem

Stephane Mobile Technician Quebec Posted   Latest

I have a problem with SPS2. Everything works fine apart from the * CLEAR DTC * function. The program fails every time. I have to do it with my scanner. Why???

Bonsoir Stéphane de se que je présume , tu doit avoir abonnement GDS-2 pour débloquer cette fonctionnalité avec la nouvelle plateforme.

Jean is right. Unless you are subscribed to tech line or GDS the clear DTC function will not clear all DTCs With just an SPS2 subscription.

Hi Stephen. It doesn't matter whether you have GDS 2 or not, the button typically will not clear all DTCs and states to use the scan tool after trying the clear DTCs button. I have the complete TLC package. Here's a screen snip of the message after using the Clear DTCs button. Rather than use the TLC DTC clear, I prefer to see everything within GDS 2, to ensure that all systems are correct…

Out of the 4 times the program tried to erase DTC’s, only once did it work. The other 3, 2 gave me an error and the 3rd just had the spinning wheel forever.

Hi Jorge. It is “hit and miss” right now, typically may clear some, but not all DTCs

Hi Stephane. The “CLEAR DTCs” doesn't work anyway, or perhaps I should say “properly” to erase all DTCs. If your read the on screen SPS2 verbiage, it directs you to use the scan tool, so if you don't have GDS 2 but there is a TCL Code Clear, it should work. The last thing to do before releasing a vehicle to a customer should be to verify the repair and check DTCs. Personally, I prefer to go…

I agree with Martin, I just used SPS yesterday and even though the clear codes screen came and said clear codes successfully, don’t trust it still check and clear with scan tool, btw I flashed a donor bcm and radio and theft deterrent module on a 2008 Chevy equinox using SPS2. HTH

Thanks everyone! In short, the lesson is to always check again with a scanner as I always did.
