2013 Honda Civic N16A1 Instrument cluster showing SRS fault - No fault codes logged in SRS

Simon Diagnostician United Kingdom Posted   Latest

I have this 2013 Honda Civic in the workshop, it has an SRS warning light illuminated on the right hand dial and an SRS warning on the upper LCD information panel. The vehicle has no SRS faults logged using Honda HDS, live data from the SRS module shows warning indicator is off, there are also no faults in the instrument cluster and live data also shows SRS warning indicator is off.

Anyone seen this before or have any ideas?

Regards, Simon

Morning, So I had this happen to me a few years ago on a 2013 accord but under different circumstances but this might be helpful. I do work for some body shops and one was delivered post accident, all repaired but a deployment code in the SRS unit. I replaced the SRS module with a new unit and the SRS would not go out. No codes in ANY modules, just the SRS light. After a lot of testing and…

It looks like there is a well laid out diagnostic procedure for this symptom to help determine the cause of the issue. Have you seen or followed this yet?

It happened to me with a 2013 Honda Accord sedan. I put 3 different used computers and always gave No Code. Didn't knew where those computers came from. Just had a supplier in Canada who sent them. Finally ended putting a new one and problem solved. Years after, had a 2016 Civic with deployed left front seatbelt. I quoted insurance company seatbelt and srs module replacement. But, they wanted a…

buying used ones usually always will have crash data in them. Its best to send originals to be cleared imo.

Its common there is no dtcs but still some crash data stored in the srs. The live data showing the indicator off is curious tho. Make sure to check passenger detection module as well (forget what its called on honda ODS i think) and clear codes there. This can make the light come on with out codes in the srs to. As common as it is for honda, Id say trying clear/confirm no crash in SRS would be…

Check live data and see if it says deployed by any of the airbags.

Could also be a wrong or faulty cluster. Check if it was replaced.

Either crash data is corrupted, which would be easy to solve or you haven’t initialized passenger seat weight sensor unit. It requires driving the car at certain speeds and then making it stop several times. Sorry that I can’t provide the exact procedure right now but I’ve done it with Autel and Snap-on tools and they usually walk you through it.

Thanks everyone, I have already removed and read the eeprom from the module but no crash data stored. That is interesting. If I try to force an SRS fault by disconnecting either from pretensioners the SRS module still reports no DTC's. This was my reason for removing and checking the eeprom as I was convinced it was a SRS module fault. The bit that concerns me is the cluster reporting that the…
