Can someone help me Identify this piece?
Have my personal vehicle in today for a couple lean codes. Smoked the system and found this plastic nipple leaking from the RH side of the intake manifold. I watched a few videos and looked at pictures. It looks to be capped from factory and mine is broken? I don’t know what it is and spent an hour searching. Does anyone know what this is? And can I just plastic weld it shut? Thank you. Attached is a pic of a “known good”
my pointer is on it. Thanks Guys!
It's a vacuum port that can be opened up if needed. break the little tab off the end and put a vacuum cap on it if its leaking.
Why would it ever be needed? Curious.. also as stated below.. what vehicles would have air injection? This is so new to me. Is it for euro versions etc.. or cab&chassis?
On yours it never will be, but in other applications it might. They all have it so they can open it up at the factory if needed.
Hello Jordan, This engine was also used in many GM truck and SUV applications, it was not exclusive to the Cadillac Escalade (Glorified fancy Suburban). That port that is blocked off could be used for a vacuum source in other applications. Exactly which applications would take some searching through salvage yards to find and even then, it may vary from year to year.
Thank you Sir. Much appreciated info…I Had no Idea an Escalade was a ”Glorified fancy Tahoe”-I have the short version.. haha! All jokes aside. Thank you for the info. Appreciate that! Happy fathers day as well!
I think thats a vacuum port for an air injection system that your truck probably doesn’t have. Just make sure that if you plastic weld it make it clean otherwise your going to have problems when it comes to smogging it.
That vacuum port on the intake was used in the chevrolet express and gmc savanna vans for the vacuum feed to the hvac controls
