Shop management / repair info

Michael Owner/Technician Pennsylvania Posted   Latest

Does anyone use Alldata for their shop management system? If so, would you mind telling me what you pay for it? I've been on the fence about switching from Mitchell. I like Alldatas repair info/wiring diagrams as I just started a free trial of the repair side and like it sofar.

Per Month correct?? Seems to me the last time I was looking into AllData it was over $1,000.00 /year. And I believe it was just repair.

My shop that I still work for uses Mitchell. It gets the job done. Only issue I have that I can think of off the top of my head is that the inventory search is kinda unreliable and you have to type how the parts are inputted almost exactly. were have alldata and Prodemand for repair. I prefer Alldata. Alldata needs some work though. Prdemand TSB seems to work better then Alldata. Alldata back…

We switched from Alldata to Mitchell about 11 years ago. It may have changed since then, but at the time it wouldn't integrate with Quickbooks, which was our accounting software. The other thing you might want to consider is if it works with any digital inspection programs such as Bolt-on in case you want to perform those in the future. Make sure you do your homework because as i'm sure you…

The transition is my biggest worry. I spoke with a rep today and they said getting the database over from mitchell is easy but hey that's on them to do. I already like the repair side especially the wiring diagrams.

Hi Michael: What do you mean by "but hey that's on them"? Think about it before answering. Guido

Meaning Alldata handles bringing my customer information from Mitchell to Alldata. Does that answer your question?

Hi Michael: Can you still use your current system while this is happening? Will you be able to use it afterwards if the migration goes egg-shaped. My question was meant to point out that it falls on you, no matter how things shake out. You're the one who will be dead in the water, not them. I've had "the pleasure" of being through multiple CRM migrations. When they go egg-shaped, your pillow…

I hear your concerns, Anthony and believe me the transition will be my ultimate fear. I will make it very clear that IF we switch that the transfer will need to be silky smooth and yes asking about using both systems will be asked as well. What i'm looking at is a pretty decent savings in terms of cost if I were to move from Mitchell to Alldata. I have myself (tech/owner) one other tech, a GS…

Hi Michael: I'm going to offer you some unsolicited advice. Do with it what you will. Give yourself at least month (now) for the transition. While you said the repair side, you can trust me when I tell you that you will need at least a month on the SMS side. Meanwhile, unless someone screws the pooch royally, you still have your existing system to fall back on if things don't go quite according…

I've used both and would not go back to them. Have you considered Shop-Ware? shop-ware.com The page has a short video and in my opinion out performs them all.
