What are you guys seeing for crankcase vacuum on these late model VWs?
Replaced battery on this VW this morning started the vehicle and heard the whistle sound ( crankcase issue ) pulled dipstick and whistle went away. Replaced the crankcase valve with Valco unit and i went from 2.1 inches of Hg to 3.0inches of mercury at idle. I just bought a manometer recently for these issues and starting to save known good values on known good vehicles. Unfortunately we went backwards on this one i believe. I wont be getting an OE one till next week when i do i will report back result of that. Is there any good specs for VWS out there?
Snapon has a nice digital gauge that will read inh20
Someone posted this link a while back. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u… It has known good values. Your measurements appear to match the known good value for that engine, but I strongly suggest not installing Vaico crankcase ventilation valves (or any Vaico parts really). I've seen so many Vaico parts fail shortly after install. We've had several fail, and the danger…
Steven thank you so much for sharing that spreadsheet!! That is a great resource and will provide many people with a know good value that is often not published.... I have collected VW/ Audi crank case pressures for years and that list is helpful and appreciated by me a bunch
Robert I had this same vehicle/ engine code in my bay on Friday. It was a engine code I didn't have so I took a know good value for my reference/ records. I measured -85 to -90 mbar.
I've measured a known good CXB at -35 in/h2o or -87 mbar.
