Best Autel Scanner

Joe Technician California Posted   Latest

Looking to purchase another scan tool, currently have the verus edge. I've heard great things about autel but I know they have a wide array of options. I'm basically looking for the complete functionality they offer but do not need any of the programming /add on bells and whistles. Hoping someone has had some experience with a few models and able to provide some incite. Thanks

We bought an Elite with no intention of using the J2534 device that came with it. It's the best bang for the buck if you don't need TPMS functionality. AESwave has/had it for $2500 with the Bluetooth VCI included. What sets it apart from the other models is the extra year of subscription/warranty it's an extra ~$700 in your pocket compared to the other models.

I purchased the 908 Elite in March from AESWave and have been very happy with it. I owned the DS 708 for about 7 years before this purchase. I did take a few days for the scan tool to get up to speed with connecting to vehicles but has been trouble free since then. Like others have mentioned I have no plans on using the pass-thru device for programming (I own CarDaqM) but I do use it for my…

I have had the Elite, Pro, and mini, maxisys. All worked great. The bigger tablets came with their J2534 VCI. The mini came with their standard small black VCI. I actually liked the size of the mini better. The mini had a shorter lived battery and if I did not charge it at lunch it would not make it through the day. The pro and elite would last at least one day on battery. The elite came with a…

I have an Autel Maxisys Elite. We work primarily on domestic and Asian cars and light trucks. It has done pretty much everything we have needed it to do. One of my technicians has a new Snapon scanner. I believe it is a Zeus. Sometimes his tool will do something mine won’t do and vice versa. the updates for the Autel are $500-600 a year whereas the Snapon updates are much higher. My tool is…

I have the verus edge as well and I also bought a launch x431 minis pro. And to be honest that little scan tool that cost me 600 dollars does more than the snap on one does. I compared both scan tools to the Nissan factory scan tool. And the launch comes pretty close to the options that the factory one has. It also has the ability to register keys which is awesome. I've registered keys on…

We have had the MaxiSys for a few years now - very good coverage and a value to own... It was purchased as a extra all around scan tool for the shop and now most of us now use it daily.

I personally have the elite. Bought it last year. Have second guessed myself after seeing the other models however I understand it is faster & you also get the extra year of warranty & updates. So it depends on whats important to you. I have been super happy with it. I will probably go with something along the lines of the 906 TS next time. But I am sure there will be something better…

I have a 906ts I am really happy with it for the price (around $1500 on amazon). I have been surprised few times by its capability / functionality rivals the factory tool on some GM, Chrysler, Ford.

How do you feel about its speed?

It is pretty quick to boot up , most vehicles it is as quick or quicker than the OEM tool. It seems like the older Honda's ( 9141-2 I think ) are slow to load data pids, clear codes, access immobilizer functions IMO.

Do you mean boot up speed or data speed? For both I don’t have any complaints.

Just curious about over all speed. I've heard a couple of guys say it's slow compared to the elite.

Hi Basically what the other guys have said. Its my go to tool when I don't want to power up the factory tools. My only issue was the screen went wrong when it was just over two years old. Supplier told me there was nothing economic to do about it and I should buy a replacement. Not happy with that response, I did some research and bought a new replacement screen on Ali Express for $80 and…

I have had good luck with the Autel scanners, I bought the MS906TS 2 years ago, has all the functionality of our Snap On Modis Ultra. Sometimes better coverage than the Snap On. Updates are definitely cheaper than Snap On. I have owned 2 of there scanners in the past with no complaints. This would also do TPMS & ADAS if you want but no programming.HTH

I have had the 906bt for about a year and I love it. We have most of the OEM scan tools but I go for my Autel first. I had a Jeep in the shop and the Autel wouldn’t show misfire counters. I called customer service and they sent a patch straight to my tool and fixed it. Excellent customer service. I also purchased the TPMS tool. Works great. Coworker recently bought the 906ts and loves it. Great…

I asked the mobile diag/programming service we use about Autel and he said they have 9 of the Elites. I wish I could justify staying with Snap On but every single update gets worse than before. And their tech support's standard answer is "that [error on our part] should be addressed in the next update. Contact your dealer to purchase." Well my dealer is useless and I shouldn't have to shell out…

Thank you everyone for all the recommendations! I also wanted to ask.. one of the main reasons I was going towards autel is for added euro coverage that snap on lacks. Sounds like the elite may be the way to go from what you all said

I have a autel maxisys and a launch x431 pro. I find that i usually have better luck when it comes to live data , special functions and actuations with the launch scanner. Its good to have more than one option but personally i would recommend launch over autel.

Buy from an authorized seller not amazon or ebay. That way when it breaks you dont have to send it back to china.I have the 908 pro and a verus they do compliment each other. It will take you a while to know which one to grab for which car. When i first got the autel had to force myself to grab it first for a while to learn it.Also nobody…

Hello Joe. The 908 elite is the best, it has a fast processor and links to vehicle quickly. They were packaging them with 2 years software updates. It has become my first grab tool. The J2534 box also works as a blue tooth wireless interface to the vehicle. 906BT has a lot of functionality if budget is your priority but the 908 do the most.
