Chrysler Mongoose Pro still viable?
I acquired a new Chrysler Mongoose Pro some time ago hoping to use with WiTech2.0 and as it turns out that’s not an option. I’m updating my Cardaq situation so I’ll have WiTech functionality.
I want to advertise and sell the Mongoose but I’m not sure it has any use any longer. I hate to toss it out or add it to my museum of dusty old diagnostic tools.
Can it still be used for programming Chryco products and if so, what years?
TIA
We're working on an updated version of the Chrysler Mongoose. They added a requirement for a 3rd CAN channel for many vehicles. That was addressed in the CarDAQ-Plus3. I believe it can be used with Witech on some Chrysler vehicles, but none of the 3-CAN vehicles (some 17-up). It should work on everything in Witech that's not 3-CAN as far as I know.
Brian, Does that hold true for the CarDAQ-Plus2 as well? If so, are there other manufacturers that the P2 won’t program? Thanks in advance, Gary
Hi Gary, I am pretty sure we went from CarDAQ-Plus to CarDAQ-Plus2 to support some networks on GM GDS2, and then CarDAQ-Plus2 to Plus3 to support FCA vehicles that needed to open 3 CAN channels simultaneously. The CarDAQ-Plus2 could support the FCA vehicles but only 2 CAN channels at a time but WiTech would not progress unless it could open 3 channels all at once. Also around that time we were…
Thank you (as always) for your guidance. I wanted to advertise it and describe it accurately
I have it on E Bay as an auction with a buy it now of $125 ebay.com/itm/Drew-Tech…
It’s posted for sale on E Bay. The reserve is lower than that number so you might win it 😀
Rusty, I wouldn't assume the connector won't work with WiTech 2.0 J2534. My old GM MDI works just fine. It's not on the list of “approved” devices, yet it works. The trouble is the hassle of setting up the program is so great, including getting an ID number for your device, is that they have made it very difficult for the average tech to figure out. AE Tools helped me the first time but they…
Drew Aka OpusIVS does sometimes setup arrangements for teachers and instructors, if you decide you need a CarDAQ-Plus3 for teaching I suggest you contact Hugh. We do try to support trainers. And yes the J2534 device should work on WiTech EXCEPT for 3-can vehicles. It actually opens 3 channels on the device before allowing it to proceed.
Philip,so i have an MDI 1 myself and i was wondering if I could use my interface on chryslers, but after reading your post it sounds like i would have a very difficult time getting it to work with chryslers.ive been trying to save up for a cardaq but its very difficult to do right now.but it's doable you said?up to what years?
Francisco, The difficulty is not with the interface. Regardless of which you have, set up is a pain. I don't think I could have accomplished it at all without help. Maybe by now someone has done a youtube video of the latest procedure. As far as how late of a model vehicle will work with my MDI, I've used it on up to 2017. I believe the 3 channel requirement kicks in around there and…
Thank you, Philip.i appreciate the response.im keep out for any videos out there.i'll post it up if i find one.Have a great day.
