TPMS training mode for pushbutton start Ford Vehicles
Ford TPMS training can be difficult to enter on a push button start vehicle. The standard key procedure is the same, but push button presses seem to be difficult for some people to time. The attached video is a short demonstration of how to enter TPMS learn mode diag.net/file/f39qmhp3w…
Start with key off doors closed Brake pedal 1 push and release Key to RUN (double press), Key to off (single press), Key to RUN (double press), Key to off (single press), Key to RUN (double press) Brake pedal 1 push and release, Key off, Key to RUN (double press), Key off (single press), Key to RUN (double press), Key off (single press), Key to RUN (double press) Horn should honk once, Cluster should display 'Train LF Tire'
Then activate tires with an appropriate TPMS tool, Once recognized by the vehicle the horn should beep and display train R/F tire, continue clockwise around the vehicle.
8C2Z-1A203-A is the part number for the TPMS tool included with a new E series Van and is very affordable diag.net/file/f7bbhqid1…
Thanks for the demo. You know you would think someone would come up with a little bit easier way to put a vehicle in TPMS training mode. I don't know what engineers are thinking sometimes when they design these things.
LOL, what an absurd procedure! Thank you for recording and posting the video, very well done. Is there anything special about the tool, as compared to a generic activation tool?
This tool I think is less than $50.00 and it works for all the Fords I have tried except the magnet activated sensors, those I use a trans pan magnet. Universal TPMS tools have a lot more in them than you need to learn a Ford, but they would work just fine.
Nice chicken dance, Thanks for the demo.
That process (press brake and press hazards multiple times) works on some. I have had it give me trouble where it would enter learn mode and not train all 4 sensors. Used the wsm procedure and it would train all 4.
Excellent video Chris. Way to go above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks DowntownTodd
