BCM Will not program.. I wonder Why?
New PCM installed, New Ignition switch installed, new theft module installed. Cranks but no start. The problem had been isolated to a BCM. Bought new BCM and tried to run setup didn't work. Logged into Tech connect online to run 10 minute relearn and the key will not program with the first new BCM I installed. Sent BCM back thinking it was bad. They sent me a new BCM. I'm using a Maxisys 908 Pro. Some say you can only use TECH 2… Is this true or not? I have a GM mdi 2, but have not tried it. I also have TECH2 win but other techs I know say the win version doesn't work… I also tried it and it says invalid vin as well. Checked all wiring involving the Security system from BCM TO PCM and Theft module. It all checks out fine.. What am I doing wrong that this BCM will not setup. Also I havent ran the 30 or 10 minute relearn with the new BCM. I was told it can lock the BCM as well. So why isn't this BCM setting up to program RPO settings and then be able to run the key relearn. I'm following set by step from gm how to program it and I'm having no success. Please help and thank you…

I’m sorry if you wrote it, but I don’t see it. When you say new, does that mean GM new? Online GM New? USED Junkyard New? Also, did you program the Theft Deterrant Module also? PCM too? MDI 2 should work and the Autel VCI too if you installed the correct Drivers of Both tools on the PC. Do you have a scan of the entire system? Why was all this stuff replaced? Thanks
GM new, pcm programmed TDM programmed, bcm will not setup. Replaced all the parts because its a used car were gonna sell, and after running diag on it, the procedure says to replace bcm. So the fact that its not a customer car and ours, we started shooting parts at it. we loaded up the parts cannon
And drivers are correct on pc I just did a relearn on a tahoe
If the PCM is programmed properly already (with correct vin) then you need to run replace and program for bcm first using techconnect, then you run setup options for bcm, then run vtd for relearn for replaced pcm/bcm. Since you replaced pcm, vtd and bcm, you will likely need to run the VTD with a new unused key since there is no where for techconnect to sniff out the old keys crypto data.
There's no option to program the bcm in tech connect all other modules show expect the bcm…
Does it even show up in a scan? Can you go into it individually? Because if you can’t, sounds like a comms problem. Wiring, fuses, relay etc
The autel can read it…. But in tech connect there’s no options for bcm
Then I’m gonna say it’s Techline. Call them and if it is on their end, they’ll go into ur PC and use SPS 1.
If there's no option for bcm in techline then is a tech 2 set-up procedure only, seen that a lot of times . Once you get into the set up it'll just ask for RPO's , mileage and vin. Does it show mileage or just 0? Also if you turn the key off without setting up the bcm it usually locks and you need a new one but you'll only know when use the tech 2 and try to set it up , it will say “ vin locked”…
It’s shows mileage…. But that’s the thing when I go to bcm setup with my scan tool it says vin is invalid…. Then it won’t finish the procedure.. the bcm is new from the dealer second one too. All the wiring is fine as well….tested across each wire with 12 volt test lamp as load…
Never been able to do the setup with am scanner (launch, autel) I know the option is there but doesn't work , only the tech 2 works
I have a Tech 2, but from what I’ve read, Techline doesn’t have a way to program using a tech 2. Tech2Win should be there and should have the setup of ur scan tools can’t do it. I have a launch and the set ups and resets are exactly like my Launch Scanner. I would try, it I still believe ur best bet is to call and get some on the line to help. It shouldn’t take long.
You don't need techline , tech 2 and candi module is all you need to set up the bcm. It's just a set up not programming
I've always had to run program & replace in SPS then run setup & vtd either with sps or another scanner on this year bcm's. How else do you get the vin set in module if you don't program it first? That's not done in setup. Setup to me seems like its just matching up data between the new bcm and other modules like srs, radio, tpms etc…
Anytime you get new pcm and bcm together in a vehicle. most times you will need a new key. Are you still using original key?
I just had this problem with the autel j box. The solution wound up being using a pass thru pro 2 or 3. I don't know why but this solved my problem.
I have a gm mdi 2 as well…. Should I try that I Also have a jbox as well
I would try another jbox or the mdi. Thats what solved my problem.
Most late model GMs need a programming with SPS, but the Lacrosse is old school Tech 2 vehicle, (the last year), so setting it up takes a Tech 2, should not need flashed. It appears that your Autel, while fairly capable (not really an Autel guy/fan, as you never now whether the Autel is giving you the straight scoop), does not have many functions in the older Serial data/CAN vehicles, which this…
What ended up happening? We programmed a 09 lacrosse new bcm mdi2 . Did SPS vtd learn didnt work. Reprogrammed any other vtd option if there was one. The shop did 10 minutes three times a few times didn't work then finally left the key on for around 40 minutes and started. We've had a few issues with the lacrosses around those years.
