P0351 - Ignition Coil "A" Primary Control Circuit/Open
Replaced Pcm

hello all. i have came across a problem trying to program this Durango. It has been awhile since i have programmed an older Chrysler vehicle. today i tried and i came up short. my problem first was with chry j2534 server would not load. so i tried the old way with the tech tools and the DRB3 ,Tech tools could not connect to DRB 3. So i grabbed a different laptop that had the j 2534 software and i could not find flash file for this vehicle. I read that Chrysler has stopped the older 2534 program. Any one else ran into this?

Hi Jeff: Are you using the newest version of the Tech Tools utility? Are you using the correct Java version? Are you using the newest version of the NI drivers? Tech Tools is now accessed from a shortcut on the Desktop and no longer from the link on the webpage. BTW, by default, it installs on C-drive. I hack the file so that I can put it anywhere I want but that is where it is natively looking…

Hi Jeff: I've never gotten an adapter to work. (I'm not saying that some will not work.) You'll have to play around with it. There were a bazillion different procedures in the past. You wan try turning on the tool after you connect the cable. (BTW, even with an adapter, it still requires a Null Modem cable.) If that don;t work, try that again but select Tech Tools in the tool. Basically, keep…

So i found out today that the j2534 server is no longer available and they want you to start using the witech 2.0 for programming. not sure how that is gonna work with the older ones. Ae tools said the tech tools should still work so i ordered a adapter that is suppose to work with the drb . we will see

That’s a DRB ride. The PCM no matter where you got it from cane programmed. All you need to do is “pcm replaced” under the skim. You will need the skim code. The only OE tool that will do those is the DRB. There are some aftermarket locksmith tools that may do it. PCM replaced will write the vin to the pcm and marry it to the skim. There are other ways around it but that’s another topic. AND…

+1 on running pcm replaced, bin write and pin for secret transfer. Last year I tried tech tools and drb3 and it still worked. I was able to download data and write it to an ecu.

Thank you Allan for the Response. Vin write and Skim transfer is not my problem. I am wanting to reprogram pcm.

You're saying you have a 2003 PCM, that is not broken, but just needs a software update?

Do you want to change or update the calibration of the PCM? If update, there are many ways to do this but the current FCA way is by using wiTECH 2.0.
